That's a really nice looking car, resto mod I suppose is the term for it, real sweet that butterscotch.

I know how long guys with bonna fide muscle cars wait to sell them and end up selling $40,000 cars for $25,000.

I don't see 32K being out of line for that car Jerel. You and me both know that there's plenty of guys in the Okanagan with an abundance of "summer toy play money" burning a hole in their pockets. The kid should take it for a final drive to Penticton and try his luck at the show in June.

whats the original colours ? does it still have the glide and original rear or have they been up graded?

IMO...worth $30k,. all day long.

Many Canadians are generally looking for the more fugal deals, because we are taxed higher than Americans, leaving disposable income affected.

However, SD's of this quality don't pop up very often & not an example that would warrant a "fire sale".
If the seller has any patience, with the attitude of "shit or get off the pot"...he will get a fair price, very close to his asking $$.

Quoted for the truth. Nice looking car........., but when you modify a car to personal tastes (ie resto-mod or mild custom) it drops the value on resale.

The car looks well put together and hopefully enjoyed by the owner before he passed. Due to depreciation , usage as well as a crappy economy, and shortage of qualified cash buyers that price will be ????

Assuming the same person had spent $50 k on a new Denali and was offered $20k a few years later that's the norm. Old cars do not have the same "investment" cachet they once held.

Not sure on the original colours and would have to check on the tranny and diff. The son isn't too familiar with these old cars and I made a pretty quick stop there last night. If someone gets serious on it I can definitely find out more info and take some more pictures.

I don't think he is too far out of line neither but and a big but as has been mentioned when you step out with a different paint job plus a few other things you limit the interested parties. I know there have been some quite recent sales in the valley around this price range but I know the 66 and 67s sell alot quicker than the 64 and 65s. Have one guy in mind that I'm going to contact and it would be in his price range. Good idea though on taking it to Penticton as lots of car guys will be there. I wonder how he would do at the auction there.

If he doesn't get the money he wants for it, he should maybe consider contacting international car collectors. I've had positive interest in my '65 internationally, they are interested in finished driving cars, with this '64 being all shiny, it would take long before its on a boat headed overseas. It's what I'll be doing with mine, unless I have to get my pacemaker changed out, then its already in will to be crushed if something happens during surgery, survival rate is only 40%

On the custom note, this one hasn't deviated that far from a stock appearance to totally turn off buyers en masse, IMHO. Yeah, it's a non-stock colour, but it's not bright lime green with purple flames or anything. The interior is basically stock looking with the exception of some painting, I think. Wheels are easily changeable if not to the taste of the new owner. Therefore I don't see the customizing as being too much of an impediment to price.

Probably more, as mentioned above, is that the '64-'65s are not as popular as the later models, but in reality it's just a matter of finding the buyer that this car "clicks" for.

The price doesn't seem out of line for the work done, but you have to find the right combination of deep pockets and a passion for this car - IMHO.

It looks like a real nice car but when they get into that price range it sure cuts out a lot of buyers.

Something closer to stock/original....on the brake drums.... and steering column... would likely enhance the value AND appeal to a broader range of buyers...

The colour actually looks like a modern equivalent of an original 1964 colour, "Saddle Tan". Nice car I would say. It is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. As others have already said, perhaps buyers in other countries may have the money that they are willing to part with. It would be a shame for Canada to lose one of those rare Canadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertibles, but the seller is within their rights to seek the highest offer from wherever.

You are right Terry, that would create the most interest as you are at the venues where the car guys are. Trouble is he said he doesn't have any big desire to drive this car as he has a new Corvette and I think a Camaro so this is a distant third on the list. As far as I know it has not been advertised any place besides on here.

I have to agree that it seems a bit pricey for this toy. But like others have said, it just takes the right buyer that just must have it. It's funny though that if you bought a regular car such as a Mazda or Honda accord you would pay more , and you would end up junking it within ten years.

All of the GOOD cars in Canada will eventually end up in America........OR overseas.....

We've lost too many GOOD ones already........Reason being.....simply put..........Canadians are chicken sh*t about spending $$$ on old cars.....and MOST Canadian car guys seem to be "flippers"....hoping to pick up a couple of thousand.....and then have a "story" to tell their pals @ Tom Hortons.....about the one they USED to have...but never should have sold....

I'm prolly guilty as well......but NEVER sold ANY car that I didn't want to keep.....

We are just fortunate that Canadian Pontiacs ARE hermaphroites.....most Americans think they are interesting....but weird.....

If they were Impalas,Mallibus and Chevvy IIs,....they'd ALL be gone to America by NOW.....

Not a chance. There are so many guys around that have more money than they know what to do with. Obviously some will go as the collection from the coast but there are guys collecting as we speak and they are aren't scared to spend. Just those cars I posted on here from last summer that I took care of were $300 thousand dollar cars. Couldn't sell them for that but that is what he had in them. That was just part of the cars he has. Nobody even knows about them and there are many guys like that. There are two mopar collections here in the valley that have some rare of the rare but there are only a few who have ever seen them. One is on the second floor of a commercial building. No problem, our Canadian boys are doing okay.
