Agree with you Ted, I was telling my son about this method of ordering a car. My 1986 Monte Carlo SS was the last car I bought that I could tick all the boxes. When I bought my 92 Bonneville they were selling packages but I still had limited ability to check boxes. 

I was pricing out a Cadillac XTS recently and we couldn't figure how to get the 410 HP engine. Turns out you have to get AWD and the premium trim package, adds close to $10,000 to the car. There is a pile of other stuff that comes with it too.
