I've recently put quite a but of time into looking at buying a stock set of wipers for my car. I've located a few people that have them flextuating anywhere between $60-$100/pr for a new set of NOS.
I bought a set of replacement reproduction ones a few years ago and really don't like the way they look. I want something that really looks period correct. The car is not a concourse resto by any stretch but I still want it to look stock....
So the questions are...
In 1966 I am under the impression from all my homework that the wiper arms and wipers would have been a brushed stainless type of look. I have the possibility of buying a set of"shiny" NOS blades for $100.00 which I'm willing to do but want to make sure that would have been right. I was told the 'shiny" ones are 62-65. That the 66 were semi shiny and the 67' were dull. 66' had one year only with the semi shiny.....
Also, somewhere along the line I had my wiper arms polished making them "shiny" when I didn't really pay attention to this topic. In a few area's they don't look right almost as if they didn't polish up properly. Can someone advise if these were "brushed" here as well.
One way I'm looking at doing this is just buying the shiny ones and cleaning up my wiper arms or replace with and have the correct look.
Finally if someone has a good idea where I good get the correct wipers/arms.
My '66 Beaumont with 70k on it has lightly brushed stainless with chromed steel and pot metal arms, with dull blades(Trico). Trying to take a picture doesn't really show the effect.....
