1966 Grande Parisienne 4dr hardtop, hard to find spare parts

Hello there,

I have a 1966 Pontiac Grande Parisienne 4 door hardtop project car. Have tried to search the internet for all kinds of spare parts, but it seems quite difficult to find any.

For example, I would like to buy new drop rail mouldings and also the weatherstrips sealing the side windows to the roof line.
With witch model is the Grande Parisienne sharing its roof line, is it Bonneville?
Maybe you have some hints where to find spare parts?

Wow! You have a rare one there (about 1200 made I have heard) I always liked those but have never really run across a good one.  As for parts I think (and I'm kind of guessing here) that Bonneville door hardware and rubber stuff might be the easiest thing to search for as any canadian 4 door model won't have any repro parts made for it.  I think the fit will be the same but I'm sure some one else will chip in here some actual knowledge instead of speculation.  Interior trim Like door panels might be unique to the Canadian Grande but you might want to take a look at this website to check the Canadian and American Brochures for that year to see if any trim is the same.  http://www.oldcarbrochures.org/

You might also want to look for any 66 Grande (American or Canadian) if you need grille or tailpiece stuff.  I hope you have good Grande Parisienne emblems as they are unique to Canadian 66 Grande Parisiennes.

Running gear is simple as its the same as 1966 Chevrolet.

Post some pictures by the way!

Finland!   Very Cool to have you on board! You're in the best place you could be to get help.

Wow sounds like a really neat car to have and be restoring, tell us it's got a Big Block biggrin.

I searched for photos of Bonneveille. Catalina and the brochure car for Grande Parisienne. You can make out the differences in the car bodies I believe. It will be a judgement call on which US model fits best but I'd be leaning to the Catalina, that rear door on the Bonneville has more space in front and behind the seam, no doubt rear doors are unique to Bonneville. The Bonneville is just a little too long to match up the Grande Parisienne.

For weather stripping would a 66 Caprice 4dr be a match?

If it helps with the search, here are the original part numbers for those weatherstrips.

7613454 right side

7613455 left side

And interestingly enough, I checked the US parts book and all 66 Pontiac 4 door hardtop US models also use the same roof rail weatherstrip as the Canadian GP 4 door hardtop.

Checking the Cdn Chev book shows those numbers as fitting 1966 all the 39 models which are 4 door hartops.

This should really open up your search.

Those aren't nearly as hard to find as the front fender and trunk mouldings. I'll see if i have one when I get off my work shift.

Thank you for all your answers, looks like I'm in the right place to get help  :)

The car is equipped with a 307 Chevrolet engine and a Powerglide transmission, the original engine has been replaced at some point.

Don't have any pictures of the car at the moment but I could snap some and post them here..

You are saying that most weatherstripping and moldings are the same for Catalina and Bonneville, but I cannot find drip rail moldings anywhere for these models.

I have tried OPGI and NOS Reproductions. Should I go for used parts since I cannot find new reproductions for these?

The original drip rail moldings are still on the car but I'm afraid I will damage them when I remove them from the car.
Is there a good way to remove them without destroying them?

You take a bottle cap opener and tape it and it will help pry the mouldings off    I did it on my 69 Nova and 71 Monte and 69 Chevelle

heres a video with a more common type of opener

There are cheap $ plastic trim-prier kits made for that.
