Finally got the old girl on the road.

IMG_0352[1].JPGIMG_1439[1].JPGIMG_1377[1].JPGIMG_1430[1].JPGIMG_1463[1].JPGIMG_1475[1].JPGIMG_1500[1].JPGIMG_1466[1].JPGFirst, thanks to everyone here who contributed from advice, tech tips to used parts in assisting me with what turned into an unexpected project.  I had bought this car of a fellow named Kevin in Etobicoke under the impression it was a good daily driver, all original and unmolested.  Unfortunately once I got her flat bedded home and started tinkering I found some surprises.  The original 283 had a high idle and smoked a bit, once I started trying to tune it quickly became apparent that at lower idle a very bad miss was present.  When I pulled the motor apart I found a huge hole in the top of the #3 piston.  One engine swap later I now have a rebuilt 283 from 1962 in it and will rebuild the original down the road.  The original paint and body turned out to be incorrect.  Thanks to some savvy posters here I was able to decode the original paint code as a maroon body with white top.  I confirmed this by checking some hard to get at areas and found both colours.  In discovering this I also began to realize at some point in time someone else had gone to alot of trouble and time working on this car.  They not only stripped and painted the car a blue colour but also completely change d the interior as well.  Painting the car was a nightmare but to make a long story short the first to body guys hired really dropped the ball and in the end I had to reposes my own car twice.  I finally found a guy that was able to salvage the damage done and in the end it didnt turn out to bad.  I replaced the rear window seal and back package tray (unfortunately it still leaks and already ruined new tray!), and removed the old cracked material dash and installed a new/old two piece which I had painted same colour as exterior (thanks for the dash Rabbit!)  I'm really happy with the era appropriate Cragar SS's and have been driving the car for about 3 weeks now.  I already had it in a car show along with my dads 51 Poncho and just this weekend past we took it to a wedding and the bride and groom loved it so much they posed with it for pictures.  Its not perfect but shes seaworthy.  I picked up an old school steering column mount SUN tach which I plan on wiring in and with the addition of two 6x9's, a bass box and a sweet amplifier I am so happy to be cruising to WAR's Low Rider and returning all the thumbs up it gets.  I'm really surprised how much attention it gets for a hard top actually.

Bellow are some pics

Your car looks great! I'm glad you persevered and got her finished. Many guys would have given up as soon as they saw the hole in the piston!

Thanks very much to you and everyone else for all the comments and thanks for rotating the pictures.  Yes I really like that first one the way the sun washed it out it really does look like an old add from the era.

The full size Pontiacs where a lot larger than todays cars. When I put my 64 in the garage it takes up more space than my new cars. Your 64 looks fantastic well done.

With the lower roofline and no pillars, this body style is sometimes overlooked. They have great lines for four doors! Nice ride indeed!
