H4 high beam lights

I'm running H4 bulbs as low and high beams. What is the equivalent high beam ?

Kind of confused about the question....

In performance lighting, I think 7" non sealed lenses are pretty much H4. But the 4 lamp 5 3/4 lens can use the H4 or H1 bulb.

Regardless, here's a link to a great vendor with tons of performance lighting info.

I have 4 x 5-3/4 headlights that currently use H4 bulbs, low and high beam. They are three terminal. What bulb fits in the same opening, is a high beam with two terminals?

the H1 bulb only has one terminal. Which won't work.

Judging by what I read on the site, I think at least with high beam reflector 5.75 Hella's, you'll need to be H1. Could be wrong.

I think it would be a pretty easy retrofit to connect the H1 pigtail to your standard 2 point receptacle.  Who knows, Ebay china probably makes an adapter.

There is a definite difference between the the low beam headlights and the high beam lights. You can't put one bulb into the other. The high beams are H1's for sure, and you can put in a 100 Watt bulb which really lights up the night. I can take some photos in the morning of what both look like and I think I have some adapter harnesses too that I'll take photos of.

I have a headlight that currently takes a H4 bulb. Need to take out just the H4 (with 3 tabs) and replace it with a 2 tab bulb. I'm not changing headlights, only the bulb. What bulb would that be ?

The way I read it, H4 lenses/reflectors/bulbs are all of a high/low beam design only. So all H4 bulbs have 3 pins.

The H1 type has the choice of a High Beam or High/low 5 .75" reflector.

Hella H1 high beam lens

Adapter from 2 pin sealed high beam to H1 bulb.

I suppose you could just buy a HO 80/55w or so 3 pin high/low beam H4 bulb, and adapt your two pin sealed high beam plug to work with it on the 80w side. But the H4 reflector really isn't shaped for max high beam.

I've taken some photos for you. The first one shows the difference between the H4 high low bulb mount and the high beam only H1 mount.

The second photo shows 3 different brands of high beam lens and reflectors. Left to right, Marchal, Cibie', and Autoroche.

These are all ground lead crystal lenses, and are quite impressive on the highway at night. It's highly recommended to do the headlight relay modification as well to keep your switch from overheating and boosting the power to the lights. I tjink Carl Stevenson had a thread about that awjile ago.

I get what your saying but you don't get what I'm asking. I am taking out a H4 bulb out and want to put another bulb in its place. Only just high beam two terminal.

Think I need a H7 ?

I'm not replacing the glass lense. I know the difference between lenses. I'm not replacing those.

You would need a bulb with an H4 base, and I'm not aware of one.
