I especially like the stand up wardrobe beveled mirror & long snout telephone...thanks for sharing photos.
- I have a similar crank phone, mounted at the end of our bed room hallway...showcased above a slate veneer lower half wall & black walnut top ledge
Turned out to be one of a few custom touches, in our newly renovated '63 brick bungalow...a beautiful focal point, using an antique.
- took me many years to find a good one, and yours looks quite mint to (nice craftmanship/finger joint oak construction)

Good luck, on the sale 67custom.

How about a picture, sounds like it's worth seeing and showing off

Actually you are correct. When it comes to antiques and collectibles, eastern Canada (especially Ontario & Quebec) was settled by the first Europeans and by the wealthiest immigrants. The playing field has now spread/levelled out a bit because of people and items eventually migrating out west.

^^ Thanks for asking Gerry, you twisted my arm.

I am a firm believer, that period antiques incorporated in a home renovation design, adds much character to the finished job.

******************************************************************************************

Last year we moved to our country property (on 1.13 acres), into the 1960's brick bungalow that's been under extensive renovation (off & on) over the last 3 years.

As a nice surprise for Mom, I designed a "memorial Doberman wall" for our former girls.

Tanya (born 1977) and Amy - features include:

- Tanya's obedience trophy (1st place in class, after 18 weeks of daily training)

- two dog tags, from both former dogs

- Amy's favorite teddy, one of her babies

- Amy's special toy, a rubber moose (purchased at TSC)...and always hid from son's little dog Trevor

- Amy's urn/ashes & cast paw print

- Amy's last construction piece of scrap wood, for good chewing fun

- and finally a Doberman beanie baby, to complete the tribute

Incidentally, the vintage big Ben alarm clock, was from my granny's egg house, on their farm...I've saved it for 50 years.

The old Northern Electric long snout telephone, was purchased at a rural garage sale 20 years ago.

- stored in my garage, until I could properly display the old antique (guessing from the 1920's)

Mantle top ledge is from a black walnut board, that was dried & planed 50 years ago...affixed to the hallway with a cut-off of white oak

This one construction project was a labor of love, and an honor to incorporate our fond doggy memories, into our newer living quarters...at the end of the hallway, right beside the master bedroom.

The solid cherry 1-3/4" doors, I designed and are doweled with black walnut.

White painted door frames was ripped out made on site from White Male / Cherry / Cedar / Black Walnut stops...utilizing a 1920's craftsman style of architecture.

- all baseboards, ripped out of 1x6" hard Maple, with a post WWII erra simple bevel, cut on a table saw

The TV brick mantle was another design, to showcase a few period antiques / mainly my granny's clock & a rail road lantern:

This saw milled 2" thick White Oak plank was +60 years old, from the family farm & ends cut to length with Dads 1968 Pioneer chainsaw (w/visible burn marks).

- power washed old grime off & small hardwood piece dipped in urethane (to keep the dried out bark intact)

- no need to use a modern 12" compound saw, in trimming it to fit

Brick work is stacked slate (stone veneer) and PL glued in place.

Hickory 6" wide plank T&G unfinished boards, installed on a new plywood sub floor & sanded for 24 hours / added 2 coats of natural oil stain & 3 coat of oil based urethane.

- living room wall was moved back 2 feet into kitchen space (that was too wide), and cubby hole is for electonics

- extra crown molding (painted Poplar) added on ceiling...for a little more detail

Wow, Everything looks great, thanks for the pictures and the story behind it all, VERY WELL DONE Larry.

It would be interesting to see how many other members have for antiques and would love to show them off to us.
