Turbo400 experts mystery clip

So, i had the car up on the hoist to replace the turbo400 filter and new pan....found this mystery clip rattling around in the pan..the tranny has been sitting a while and was previously overhauled at a transmission shop. Maybe less than 2k on it...

what the HECK is it! Notice the marks on each side....I dunno

Looks like something that got thrown up out of diff through the drive shaft into the trans.bleh C clip? looks like it has outer outer ring wear from axle?

Our transmission tech is back from vacation on Tuesday, I can show him this picture. He's done some 400's over his 60+ years.

Sure looks like a C-clip out of a C-clip differential to me.  How thick is it?  C-clips out of a diff are better part of 1/8" thick.

That looks like a cm. tape measure to me, too small to be a c-clip out of a diff.

It looks like the c clip style spacer that's part of the pressure valve assembly in the pump, maybe...

There's sometimes more than one..

Thanks
Randy

I agree with Randy but not sure how it could end up in the pan without more pieces. Here's another picture.

Thats great guys! Thanks!

I suspect it may have been laying in the pan and went unnoticed when reassemble.d The shop did the job twice. When I had it overhauled I requested they check the length of the modified tailshaft was correct because I was suspect it was slightly short. They did not of course and about 2 weeks later it as back in the shop with flogged out rear housing. They were not happy and fortunately my request was written on the job sheet....very very low ks on the reco amd no other bits in the pan, good clean oil, been sitting for 5-7 years....I think I shall close it back up and cross my fingers...
