Actually George had clarified the " less than 13" included all 2+2 models. That's why he said less than 13 as he could not identify the number of coupes vs convertibles

Was this over the phone or written on the documents? They did the same thing on the docs for my 67 biscayne "less than 29" built with the 427 in that model #.

He wrote me a letter. I think John has it. I was confused with his comment of " less than 13" and I wanted clarification. This is what he said, he could put numbers for the combo of L36/M20 to the model 2+2 but he could not separate the coupes from the convertibles. This leaves me to the question as to if he could query just the L36 to the 2+2 model and then we would know how many automatics were there too, also3 speed manuals ?

I've been wondering about that stat for 1968 GP's. Can anyone show where the number of 30 L36 cars comes from? It seems rather high? I wonder if that 30 was counted from a group of the GP line and CDN built Caprice line also?? I'd love to see more L36 documents. Seems just a few more good clues could lead to a definitive breakdown of numbers produced. Or... I could be dreaming.

THE DOCS. I RECEIVED FROM VVS FOR MY '68 GP 2DR NOTES 30 WITH L36 FOR "SAME MODEL # ONLY".

Thanks Mike. That's great info! I'm going to wager a guess that the 30 refers to models 76635-grande parisienne 8 cyl 2 seat station wagon, 76639-grande parisienne 8 cyl 4 door hardtop and 76687-grande parisienne 8 cyl 2 door hardtop- just like the 2+2 models all (both) seem to be lumped together, and the Parisienne group likewise (even though the wording "same model only" is used). Of course there could have been 30 1968 GP's with L36 in 2 door hard top style alone. I'm not pretending to know. I guess it does make sense that a higher percentage of Gp's would be L36, since they are the most expensive top of the line cars.

Please forgive the number of recent posts from me! Just getting back from holiday and have been thinking Poncho the whole time. My focus is the big block B Body cars- especially factory equipped 427 cars, and how can you beat a 427 4 speed when it comes to the big Ponchos? Can anybody tell me how many 427 cars- and/or 427 4 speed cars are still out there? Projects to completed cars. Original "numbers match" blocks or not. Do any L72  B Bodies exist? A 1967 CDN GP 427 4 speed would sure be a cool car. Anybody have one? I'd love to learn more about these special B Body cars. Thanks for chiming in!

John

CLICK HERE for a recent thread with GM documents, says built 29 427's in '68 does not break out 4 speed.

And here's #13 of the 12 they built (because this was an automatic when born).  The boot is incorrect but I'm actually running a TKO-600 in place of the M-21 so you do what you have to do...
