Whats the best way to balance your tires?Stick on weights or beads?
Anyone try both methods on their cars?

I know this is not what you asked, but I took my 64 Pontiac last summer to get wheels balance.mechanic said it had some sort of self balance thatsound like it had sand in it. Anyone heard of this.He said it went around the drum.
I may be biased..... since I ran a tire shop for 35 years and still sell and install and balance tires today
Sand was used years ago in packets according to size of tires We used it mostly on Duplex tires (like on cement mixers)
Balancing is like asking about "best oil" or "best additive" or "best wax" or "best gasoline".....
It depends on style of rim .... Steel wheels use lead weights... Aluminum use coated weights, and "some" need stick on weight
if you were close I'd balance them for you free
New tires today are almost perfect from the factory most tire assemblies are just balancing the rims and aluminum rims are true and balanced
btw I told my staff and meant my words I would fire any employee who attached a weight on the outside of a rim ( not including daily drivers and gravel running customers)
I agree with that Carl. You don't spend a bundle on rims and tires to see
big crappy weights on the outside.Plus after time I've seen them rust up
on the rims and turn em to crap.

Yup Carl nailed it. Not as many years in tire sales as Carl , but my way as well.
And any style of balancing is only as good as the operator/calibration of machine. Re-balanced many a set of computer spin balanced tires with our archaic static balancer. It's all in the details.
My other tire pet peeve was always why shops wouldn't brush the "blue" off the white letter/wall of new tires if they were facing out? Come on only takes a couple minutes to make them look "right".
Never have to worry about weights, corrosion or machine accuracy.
Thanks Randy
... and is "unbalancing" fluid.
