What color stripe on a black 2+2? Vinyl source?

Here are the available combinations (attached). Since you'd never use a black stripe on a black car, it looks like a white top stripe and silver middle and bottom is the only option.

You sure see a lot of these done with one-color (ie: all black or all white) stripes, which appears to be totally incorrect.

What year car, and where are you located. If you know the exact sizes, I could slit some for you to the correct width. If you're close by, I could put it on.

On your fine car Dave, In vinyl, factory sizes and position, I'd do the bottom portion in a medium matt black, with a dark silver or grey regular gloss top stripe. Not white as you'd think to pick up the top.

Kind of a ghost stripe with the matt finish against the gloss black being not too bold. Seen contrasting only from certain angles. And the silver to pick up and join the WW trim, but not in a bold way. Keep it subtle.

Now all you need is a photoshopper to try some different combo's. cheers.

I'm pretty sure for my 70 the GM literature indicates what stripe color goes with what body color, your 69 literature should indicate the same. I'll try to dig through and see what book that's in.

Now that is gorgeous. Has this car ever been our feature car for the month? Are there more pics Somewhere to enjoy?

Hi! My name is Dave Plummer, and some of you may know me from what is arguably the "original" 1969 Canadian B-body Pontiac site,http://MemTurbo.com/pontiac (at least a good deal of the content on other sites seems to have originated from my 10-year old site!) Anyhow, I have what is now a '69 2+2 427 4-spd, though it started out life as a lowly Laurentian when my Dad bought it new in '69. Since I've had it almost 40 years and am dropping an obscene amount of money (for a car like ours) in a full restoration at Musclecar Restorations, I've opted to "upgrade" it in various ways. I'm sort of building a "one of none" car in that such a combo was never available, but if it were, its how I would have ordered it! - Full roller aluminum headed GMZZ502, cosmetically presented as a 427 - Tremec TKO-600 5-spd - Bonneville/Grand Parisienne metal grille - 2+2 Louvres and striping - Full factory rally gauges (US Bonneville) - Endura rear bumper (Boneville/GrandParisienne) - 15x8 Canadian Rally wheels - I've kept the narrow Laurentian/Strato Chief taillights Is it correct? Nope. But its what I wanted! It should be done in the next few months, its been under construction for a couple of years (or a few thousand hours, depending on how you look at it!) Looks like a thin white stripe plus silver middle and silver bottom would be the only one in the parts book listing I posted that makes sense.

What confuses me is that the picture below (from the dental dude) appears to be all silver, unless it's just dirty. I don't see the top as white?

I never knew ther were 3 stripes or the color combinations. Any info on the actual width measurement of each stripe and the spacing measurement between them?

It looks like 1/8" silver, 1/4" silver, then fat silver. But I'd be expecting the top stripe to be white, based on the book.

Does anyone else have pictures of an original stripe 2+2? This is what was on my red one, but it can't be original... Wedding Calgary 004.jpg

I'm still trying to find this documentation. I know I have it as in 70 the red cars and I think the grey cars used grey/white/grey stripes, whereas everything else used black/white/black stripes. (I think the same documentation also listed the recommended vinyl roof colors for body colors) On the GM Oshawa documentation for my 70 2+2 convertible, it lists the stripe color as black/white/black, but it's not listed for my 70 2+2 hardtop.

Does anyone out there with a black 69 2+2 have their stripe colors listed on their GM Oshawa documentation?

I found 1/8" and 1/4" tape (white and silver) on Amazon but can't find anything in the same line for the 3" part. I'd settle for 2.5" or 100mm (2.54") too, I'm not that picky.

Anyone know where I can buy the stuff?

Edit: I just ordered it from Vinylstriping.com, we'll see how it goes. They have standard and premium, but not in the 2" and 3", so I just went standard for everything. I ordered both 2" and 3" for the fat stripe, and assume I'll use the 3" but want to see it in person. Like the parts book says, I went white-silver-silver.
