Decode my Vin?

I had this done a long time ago on this website but I cant find it anymore.

I'm just trying to find out if my car had bucket seats or bench in the front originally so I can order my new seats and brackets.

Thanks!

Buckets will show as A51 on your cowl tag...going from memory, D55 is for the console...

 YES!!  Butternut Yellow and black.

Sadly enough there was not much left of that stuff when I bought it.

Not an SD, it's a custom. A sports option SD wouldn't have D55 on the cowl tag, only A51.

I knew it was a spit year for SD cars but didn`t know there was no D55 on the cowl tag

I'm pretty sure that's how it works, early production "736" SDs showed only A51 on the cowl tag, for sports option which was a package that included buckets and console...when they went to the "738" SD's, BBC engine only, then the base was bench seat and A51 became the option code for buckets, and D55 for console...

ak

Ps I'm guessing that during the early production that Custom models were not available with buckets... Out of interest Paul, do you know the build date of your car? Or the last numbers of the VIN?

Andrew, exactly as you have stated is exactly what I've seen on the tags I've looked at too. No bench seat in the "736" SD cars, no D55 on the early tags. But never say never!!!

If pic of the data tag was clearer we'd be able to read the build date.
