anyone know what happened to Dale Lidstone the former publisher of 'Canadian Classic' ??

The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, of Roy Albert Lidstone of O'Leary, beloved husband of Ada (Silliker), aged 68 years. Born on January 30, 1947, in O¹Leary, son of Bessie (Smith) and late Howard Lidstone. Loving father to Shelley (Gary) Saunders, Alberton and Tracey Lidstone, O¹Leary. Beloved grandfather to Cody Saunders (Geena Gaudet); Connor Saunders (Holly Gaudet); Carlee Saunders (Taylor Costain) and Nicholas Lidstone; great-grandfather to Charlie and Zack. Roy is also survived by siblings Shirley (Fred) Foley, Summerside; Phyllis (Allan) Horne, Mill River; Marilyn Lidstone (Glen Phillips), Cape Wolfe; Dale (Danita) Lidstone, West Cape; and Pam (Peter) Griffin, Elmsdale; brothers-in-law Watson (Olive) Silliker, O¹Leary; Clair (Marilyn) Sweet, O'Leary; and sister-in-law Myra (Danny) Bulger, Dunblane. Also several nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his father Howard, son Randy (2001), father and mother-in-law Lorne and Millicent Silliker, sister-in-law Iva Sweet. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home & Chapel, O'Leary, with visiting hours on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. only. Funeral will be held on Friday in the chapel at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Springfield West Baptist Church Cemetery. In memory of Roy, memorials to Heart & Stroke Foundation of P.E.I. or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
I bought some '64 Parisienne parts off of Roy (he owned a '64 at one time).
I know Dale is keeping a low profile here on the Island.

Any idea of the monetary value of these today? In terms of a publication the quality was very low.
I have a number in mint condition that have cars of interest to me, there's the only know road test of a Big Block Canadian Pontiac, a 67 Grande, a nice 68 Nova SS comparable to Acadaian SS, 4 speed 343 Matatdor, a Boss Mustang that used my high school as a photo shoot location, Black Panther Camaro, Comanche Firebird. location. Many of these actually have typo's and incorrect dates, typeset left over from previous editions etc...
In terms of a publication the quality was very low.
Yes very true...especially the later issues of Canadian Classics.
Grammar, spelling, editing, personal stories, personal provincial (PEI) political opinion, and not having fully fleshed out stories/write-ups on vehicles were the pitfalls. That being said, the Canadian content of Canadian Classics still trumped all.

Monetary values are a tough call....on fringe collectibles......I consider both these magazines fringe...because ...just like Canadian Pontiacs.....their values are NOT driven by the US market...
I recently picked up a stack....(20) of CT & T for $10.00....in really clean condition....Love the vintage advertising....although mostly eastern based advertisers...
Also just scored 8 Canadian Classics @ the Saanich swap meet for $2.00....
Now I have to sort through all my other car mags ...and find the issues I already have....

He ran into funding problems, and actually had a court case about that very thing against the PEI provincial government in 2008 (just months after the magazine folded). He lost: http://www.gov.pe.ca/courts/supreme/reasons/22102.pdf It was slated to go to a Federal court, but I don't if it ever did.
I think he was spending too much time and money on car restos/garage stuff, and not enough time on the magazine, and it ultimately suffered (my amateur opinion).

he and his daughter were taking in all the big shows SEMA in Los Vegas , Detroit, Chicago. Getting free promotional products from manufactures/suppliers and using to restore cars.
