BB Chevy Oil pan Gasket?

Changing a pan gasket on a 89 454 4 bolt.It had the 4 piece rubber-cork on it so I ordered a one piece ( Blue ) Fel-pro thinking it would be a better gasket.( put one on my 78 454 with no problems ) Well the end seals are too thick and won`t allow the pan to seat on the sides.What is the difference between the two?

I'm guessing you got a gasket for a 1991+ style Engine??
