Custom Sport production #'s...

Does anybody happen to know Custom Sport production figures for 65 and 66? (hardtop and cvt.)

I'm thinking 64 was about 7000...

Thanks for directing.....figured it was here somewhere....

For 64 and 65....a style # is listed for 6 cyl. Custom Sports ( in Ht and Cvt)...but no production #'s....
I've personally never seen one....and always assumed they didn't exist...

Also...no #'s posted for 66 HT...with A51 (buckets)...I will assume 1800....which is about the average in 64 and 65...( 3to 1...Ht to Cvt))

I'm sure 65 Custom Sport must have existed as 6 cylinders. While the US marketplace was for upscale cars with bigger engines the Canadian marketplace was lower performance, cheaper cars.
I did own a 65 Chev SS with a 230 6cyl engine so see no reason that Pontiacs wouldn't have been the same.

It seems to me that I saw a 65 custom sport like that at an Alberta Irons Indians all Pontiac show in 2015. I distinctly remember that it had a three on the tree and a blanked off console (very weird setup) and it seems to me it had a six. I took some pics at the time but cant locate them right now.  Maybe someone else will remember too. It might be in an old thread.  Ill have to check

I talked to the owner and he said it was special ordered by some really stubborn little old lady who liked the trim but did not want a floor shift. 1 of 1 he said.

I would agree there are 3 on the tree, filled in console Custom Sports. I saw an Impala like that in a US wrecking yard years ago. I don't doubt there are 6 cyl CS cars but never heard of or seen one. Sure would be rare, not necessarily desirable though...

Is there any stats on how many 66's had the 396 and 427?  Thanks

A long time ago I had posted that in a conversation with George Zapora (Canadian Vintage Vehicle Services) back in about 2002 he told me there were a total of 3200 396's installed in all Canadian Chev and Pontiac production.

Along with that I do know there were 782 installed in 1966 Grande Parisienne two door hardtops (again from George) and 56 390 horse 427's (cant remember where that came from).

If those are true it would mean that there were 2418 396's installed in all other Pontiac and Chevy models. That may be correct although the 782 number just seems high to me based on how many we have seen on this forum. (I.e. not many)

427's are a lot more unknown but given the quite a bit higher price for the 390 horse and the astronomical price for the 425 horse version you can be sure there weren't too many. (maybe a couple hundred 390 horse and maybe 10 or so 425 horse.

Any other input would be welcome.
