Gold 69 2+2 427 car, low miles


Anyone recognize this description?  I found it on the Chevelle forums (where they were lamenting that the "Pontiac Guys" hate our cars)... but the links and photos were expired!

You'd think I'd know of a low mileage 427 car, original owner, going up for sale.  But it doesn't ring a bell!

427 cu in. 390 HP Factory 4 Speed
31,000 miles
Spare tire never used
Gold exterior with black vinyl roof and white buckets
1 0f 10 built with motor tranny combo
Always kept in garage
Original owner, bill of sale.

 There's photos of the car in the link above. I looked at it back when it was for sale a few years ago. It was rough underneath and needed a body off resto. I believe the car is in Brussels Ontario getting this type of resto.

Guess I was away from the board too long, there are a couple of them that popped up while I was consumed with my GMC project!

There was a beautiful gold w/ Black vinyl top 2+2 in Regina in the 80s at a "Collector's Car Show", with a four speed. It was the only four speed car I'd ever seen, the nicest 69 Pontiac I'd seen, and I never saw it again. But that car was a 350, not a 427. Still a great car that I hope shows up again someday!

Problem is as, as we just saw in the thread with the green 2+2, nice 30 years ago doesn't mean it's still nice....

There's also a member who is the original owner of a 69 Strato Chief that is a factory 350 4 speed car. He ran in the 12's at St.Thomas Dragway when the car was new. He had it stored for years and pulled it out and restored it. It was a feature car on here.

Somewhere west of Winnipeg there may still be a triple black 69 2+2 427 speed. I saw it about 30 years ago.

I remember this car when it was for sale years ago . Could of , and should have bought it then .  Notice this car still has its smog attachments intact . However the original shifter looks like it was replaced at some point with a Hurst .

Have you ever heard of the one I saw out by Macgregor years ago Howard? It was sitting at a little repair shop south of #1. It needed restoration pretty bad. Seems to me the outer door handles had been shaved but I can't say for certain.

Carl, I was not aware of that one from MB .  For years I had my eye on Morley's out east , but it was just too far gone .  Morley's car eventually got parted , with most of the parts going towards this Gold versions restoration .  Theses 427 4 speed have always intrigued me due to their rarity .  ( And that you can get the GM documents to prove their pedigree is a bonus  )

The man who owns the "gold" car also bought the "Morley" car    He stripped the Morley car in the sellers yard and took the other spare parts and left the junk there...  

Very nice man   Has the cars stored in Brussels Ont.

Wow, someone finally bought the Morley Brown 427 car? Was there anything useful left?

I remember back to what I think was the 80s he wanted a crazy amount of money for something that was unsalvageable. I guess the definition of unsalvageable changes as things get rarer, but these aren't valuable cars, so I'm curious how it transpired if anyone knows!

Two oil change stickers, I would argue, because it's supposed to be on the passenger side on a big block car. Since it already had one I bet they added a second (can't really peel off the first). That's one of my "tells" for a real big block car (though with GM documenting them, you don't have to contend with too much mystery). But it's not 100% I've seen it both ways on car I know to be original.

I've never seen the hood light on the wrong side though, it's always passenger side for real big block cars (quick everyone run out and move it!). At least so far as I've seen.  I don't see a light on this car.

I'd bet no one wants to hear that I paid $150 for what I assume were the last pair of NOS 427 emblems... have them on my car now.  It was a LONG chase to find them (they got sold around Canada from province to province), and then the guy didn't want much for them.  Also got an NOS big block shroud, but you could get that from an Impala.  The emblems were the real score.

I take it that sand-casting post metal is harder than I think?  You'd think we could run a couple of copies off by hand, but I've never done it before...

I can't speak to the oil change sticker and underhood light on the 1969's, but for the 1970 Cdn Pontiac big block cars the oil change sticker and underhood light were on the drivers side.   I know, I've owned a few of them.

Not sure what you mean on that one.

The oil change sticker I've seen three ways now (both sides on their own plus this car with both). I'm sure that's an easy thing to get wrong on the line, so I wouldn't argue with real documents over it, but I've never seen a real big block 69 with the light on the driver's side.... except on DWachs survivor, fully-documented 427 car. So there's that.

I wouldn't tell anyone their car was real or not based on it, because it's not 100%. But it's an "indicator". Kinda like single exhaust on a 390hp car would be wrong.
