Studes and their history are so interesting (to me anyway).

Yep. That's the reason why I like them too- plus they were great cars.

Back in the early 70s while I was in grade school, our janitor Mr. Lingen loved Studebakers too! He drove a very clean light green 65 Cruiser 4-door on a daily basis, plus he had a mint light blue 65 Commander 2-door. I remember asking him where he got parts and service for his cars. He said that there was absolutely no problem getting them.

Back in 1987 when I was working in Mississauga a dark blue 66 Studebaker Cruiser 4-door parked in front of our business, so I went out and chatted with the owner. He was a middle-aged guy named Sandy that worked for Bell. He said that his 66 had only 20,000 original miles and all original paint! I told him that I had also seen a blue 64/65 Daytona convertible around, to which he replied that it was also his car and was actually a 64. He told me that NOS parts for Studebakers were cheap and plentiful. I think he said he bought a set of NOS headlight trim for $25.

I did cringe when around 1977 a local entered his silver 65 Daytona coupe in a smash-up derby. The car actually looked decent and the black vinyl top looked great but he said it was rusty underneath. Still....

I paid about the same for NOS headlight trim for my 63 Lark back in 2007. I couldn't believe what was still available for these cars. There was a place called SASCO which I believe is under new ownership in South Bend. Something like 3 floors of NOS studebaker parts. Rows of door panels, sheetmetal, and thousands of mechanical parts- all leftover when the plant and dealers closed. There are also thousands of NOS parts in private hands. I should have kept that Lark and all the NOS parts I had.

64 Wagonaire for sale in Saskatchewan - advertised as having a 4 speed automatic

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/regina/rare-1964-studebaker/1231646384?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

I'm still trying to figure out how the seller calculates it as having 4 speeds

I know it is a borg warner unit that normally starts in second and that one can get it to hold in first gear if it is put in D1.... but I still can't figure out how that adds up to 4 speeds if that is what the seller is referring to

Nice truck, but the step-sides are nicer (the step-side body's box lines are better).
