I would take a stab at actual market value being $3,000 or less. Very low demand I am betting.

And I know that seems a little harsh for what appears to be a good solid car.

However, we've seen a number of times where nice 4 door cars started off high and they just don't bring big money in the end.

I don't know if Randy White ever sold his gold Beaumont 4 door (great looking car, much higher demand). It seems to me his asking price was around 5K and I certainly would guess there's way more buyers wanting a 67 Beaumont 4 door than a 69 Cutlass 4 door. It's just a fact of life.

I don't think it's harsh at all.  I appreciate all opinions as there are a lot of good points to consider.  It also illustrates how values can have a large range, probably based on location as well.

I'm thinking that your estimate is based on the fact that old solid cars are much more available in the prairies due to your less-severe corrosion environment.  I'm thinking that Don's estimate is based on the fact that there are very few old cars in the maritimes that are originally from the maritimes, as most of them rusted out around the 8 - 10 year mark back in the day.  When people bring back cars from "down south" or "out west", they usually bring back 2-doors or convertibles, and prices usually take into account that it takes about 2 grand to ship one here.  But just the same, cheap old cars of any ilk are not all that plentiful here, thus the prices are a little higher.

I'll value something I can easily and cheaply see with my own eyes a bit higher due to shipping costs and being able to see it. Yes there are lots of these cars outside our rust belt, but even those can have rust and look very nice in pictures. $3-5,000 is cheap for a good used car. You couldn't but much worth buying for that kind of money in a modern used car. I'd buy this car before buying a small import in this price range. Rust proof it and drive it year round........................ Might burn a bit more fuel, but you can fix it yourself and get cheap parts at Rockauto. Just price a set of shocks or brakes.

Or one could step up to this 71 Olds 98 4 door hardtop with mostly original paint and a 455 for $5995.

It's in Lower Sackville, NB

I like the tail end treatment on these cars. Almost a little fin

Good logical answer, Don.  When you consider what you get for your money, it makes sense.  Old cars are definitely a supply and demand situation, so of course price will always be determined by what somebody will pay.  This is a good discussion.

Only problem I have with the rust proof and drive it in NS winters is that there is definitely the propensity to use up the car, which for me is the opposite of what I'd like to see happen to it.  I know you can't save them all, but these cars have become so scarce it would be nice to see a few survive, especially one that seems to be in such good shape (from the description).

Thanks again.

 Thanks Darryl.  Another data point.

So far we are ranging from $2500 - $5000.  Without actually seeing the car, I'm thinking value would probably be around $4K.  The average of those is about $3600, FWIW.

I recently sold a 69 LeSabre 4 dr hdtp, certified with 39,xxx original miles. It took quite a while to find a buyer and price was nowhere near what a 2 dr hdtp would have brought.
I'm thinking in the $4k to $5k range if it's in quite decent shape.

FWIW, the owner of the '69 was hoping to get $6000, but is open to offers.

I like '67s too.  There is a 2-door for sale locally that's been on kijiji for a long time, but sounds like it's been disassembled somewhat - that always turns me off as I don't have a shop to work in, plus you never know what was done to it or if all the parts are there.

That is nice. '68s are my absolute favourite year of Cutlass.
