got a thread on here somewhere cleaning up my 53 tank cant find it

Honestly, I wouldn't spend a minute or a nickel on an old tank. The repro tanks from Spectra Premium Industries are identical, fit great and affordable.

I too would prefer a new one, but didn't know about Spectra. I looked for tanks and actually came up empty, so thanks for the heads-up!

As a side-project I'm also trying to buy as much of this build as I can on Amazon, and they actually list the GM53B tank from Spectra for $282.

I bought two Spectra tanks from my supplier and when he told me this I asked if we could get Spectra to

just drop it off on the way to the States.........hmmmm -  guess not...

I had a lengthy discussion with a sales rep from Spectra at a trade show a few years back.

We have a supplier where buy most of our jobber parts at the dealership I'm employed at. We spend well over $100,000 year there. I asked him how it was possible that if I bought the tank through my parts supplier at our dealership, our cost was $XXX. If I bought it online as a retail customer out of the USA, got it shipped to the North Dakota border, drove 25 miles each way to pick it up, came through customs and paid all applicable fees, even after I calculated US exchange, my cost to go to the border etc, a tank that cost a bit over $200 here was $80 cheaper Canadian if I bought it from the US as a retail customer.

I had to pressure him quite a while until he finally told me that they have a healthy discount program for the US restoration shops if they buy a semi load of tanks.

Greetings to all. Resurrecting this thread. Will require tank for 59-7519 sooner than later. Living with it for now as I work through other things. Have two clear in line filters in series behind auxiliary electric pump and keep an eye on them. Had never heard of Auto City Classics. Neat stuff, thank you. They have this listed for my car and I wonder if it would be overkill? I dont see it listed anywhere else. Many thanks. RGM (iPad wont let me insert)
