That reminds me of a random story. I was one of the Windows developers, and I was working on product activation, where you have to enter your product key. We were doing the part where you might have to phone in and read it out loud. So we were talking about ways to make that easier, like not having both B and 8 because they look so similar.

As part of this discussion I was talking to one of our Indian developers on the speakerphone, and he was concerned about the letter B. At least I think he said B. With people that have Hindi as a first language they often can't tell B from V in English. So it went back and forth like this:

Me: B or V?
Him: (couldn't tell)
Me: Sorry, B or V?
Him: (couldn't tell)
Me: I'm sorry, can you use it in a word?
Him: (angrily) "B! B! B as in Bictor!"
