Found My Build Tag

I'm one happy camper! About 5 minutes ago I pulled the bottom of the back seat out, flipped it over and YES!!!!!!

F40 was totally expected because it's a 12 bolt with 2 upper arms on a 283 car.

K05 block heater on a Saskatechewan car is no surprise either.

U63 AM radio was obvious.

V74 hazard flasher assembly was a complete surprise. I was certain it was installed as an accessory, the operating tag is still hanging on it. Plus the original owner who ordered the car was a technician at a GM dealership. I was sure he would have bought the accessory and installed it himself. I have never seen another 66 full size Canadian Pontiac with a factory installed V74 option and I've bought/sold/stripped/driven full size 66's since I got my first one in 1975. I've likely owned about 20. So that was pretty cool to see.

That's where I found mine. Amazing the survival rate for a flimsy piece of paper.

And in such nice shape too. I guess I need to remove it and preserve it. It feels kind of wrong to remove it though.

My original is safely stashed away.
I made a copy and had it laminated. It can be displayed along with a copy of the original bill of sale for cruise nights etc.

I would remove it and tuck it in a plastic sleeve. You could always put it back with a snap of a hog-ring.

Mine was a delicate operation, yours would be much easier. Mine was soaked in oil.confuse

If I recall, the one in my 2+2 convertible was just laying within rear seat cushion, not clamped to anything. The one in my 2+2 hardtop was hog ringed on, and I almost hacked up the sheet trying to get it off the hog ring. One of these days I'll have to check my Parisienne.

Carl, I am happy for you that you found it but I must say after seeing your Strato, standing underneath it and sitting in it, I am not a bit surprised that it was there. Look at the bare steel in the seat spring in your pic, it still looks like it was just installed. I mean look at it, it is bare steel and no rust or discoloration after 52 years. The paper looks like it just rolled off the dot matrix printer.

I saw this car close up folks, I am not sure there are too many 66's this clean.

Hahaha, can I have an L36 please instead? I think it will just blast right through those little P225 tires on there with an L72!

It's funny you noticed that! I had the same thought when I pulled the seat out and flipped it over to look for the tag. I don't think I've ever had a seat that looked so clean underneath.

Ive found that sheet in my 2+2 also. On American models there is a similar looking sheet but its fisher body so it only lists options that effect the interior except the dash (the dash is considered part of the chassis in GM land back then).

So Power windows or seat or console appear but things like power train or even radios dont.

I can't say for sure but I've seen that code used in later years for shipping charges. I bet it was one of the logistics ones (fuel for delivery, transport charges, etc) and not actual equipment. But I have nothing authoritative for you, sorry!
