Good afternoon. I recently purchased a 1939 Pontiac 2dr sedan, a pretty bare shell missing both axles, for restoration.
The tag is still on the firewall and I'm hoping someone could shed some light on exactly what I have here. I contacted GM Historical & an independent advisor and both were unable to help as it's a Canadian car. I'm pretty sure it's the smaller body as the filler is on the passenger side but after that I haven't found a lot of info
the tag reads;
Model 2211
Serial 9-221180535
Engine 1302336 Body Serial 79
Trim 265 Paint 902
If someone has the necessary resources and a few moments to decode the tag info I would really appreciate it.
Here's what I've been able to come up with.
model 2211 = called an ARROW which is a 2 door sedan trunk 5 passenger
serial 9-221180535 = the 6th digit (8) indicates it was manufactured in Regina where serial numbers started at 9221180001 and went to 9221180972
engine = 1302336 = engine numbers went from 128953 to 19977876 ( that's a lot of numbers but taken straight from the book and is most probably all plants )
sorry my paint code list only starts in 1950
list price = $930
shipping weight = 2890 pounds
Might someone like McGee literature have a brochure on the car?
