65 Beaumont Carburetor Replacement or Repair

The carburetor on my 65 Acadian Beaumont SD with a 230 6c has a hesitation and the last mechanic to look at it said it was hard to replace or repair.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Carbs and carb kits are still around for the 230 cu. in. motor. What you need to get is the carb number from your carburetor to use as a reference,

to get the right carb or kit. It's usually on a metal tag attached to your carb. Using a similar year Chevrolet 230 cu. in motor as your reference

you should find a carb or kit  that would work. But you need the reference no. off the carb...if you have it.

Example: Rock Auto has some listed.

I don't think the carb on your engine is any different than other straight 6 Chevy carbs. Should be fairly straightforward to rebuild.

Thanks Canadian Poncho.  I was wondering whether to order the carburetor or a kit.  The links that Greaser sent were very helpful and my current carb is the Rochester with the sticker "C-941".  I don't know enough about mechanics but I noticed that RockAuto.com recommends the "C-941A" for an automatic.  My car is an automatic but I'm not sure if there is a big difference.

Man this group is helpful!! Your profile says you are the site founder so thank you very much!!

Welcome from a fellow winnipeger.

Have you tried citycarb or autoline. (Both Located in elmwood) They offer to rebuild or replace your original carb.

Hi Pontiax

Thanks for that information.  I will check them out this week. Beware, as a local, and a newbie, I may be picking your brain a lot.

Thanks

You are at an advantage as there are quite a few great members who live in the Winnipeg area. They usually organize a meet at a local Timmies every couple of months. If you can make it to one of them I'm sure the guys would be more than happy to help you out with the carb issue.

Hi folks. To close out this post, I did go to CityCarb in Winnipeg and received great service. He replaced the carb and did some other minor repairs for me. A very happy customer. Thanks to all.
