Want to stand out at the car show or hit the surf in style? Why not choose the world rarest 1968 Chevrolet Estate Wagon?

All these big cruisers were ordered with big engines and loaded with options.

Who on earth would order a top-of-the-line 1968 Caprice Estate wagon with the base 307 2bbl engine

and then add no options and special order a 3-on-the-tree standard trans with Overdrive and 3.70 gears!?

Mr. E. Dixon of Salinas California - that's who.

On April 3, 1968 Mr. Dixon took possession of this one-off Chevrolet woody wagon at famous muscle car dealer

Prolo Chevrolet Santa Cruz California. What stories this cool old wagon could tell!

Fast forward 50 years and Mr. Dixon's Woody has had a patina-kiss by the California sun and is now here in BC and looking for a good home.

I imported this car from the City of Angels and have all the paper work in order and a clean California title.

This is an easy build. Needs some mechanical attention to pass BC inspection to get BC reggy.

Located on Vancouver Island. Delivery is available for reasonable rate.

$7,500 obo in current condition. Im installing rally wheels, spending more money and time

and giving the car some attention so price may go up soon. No rush to sell. May consider interesting older trade.

Checked the phone number and it is Dave's.   He comes up with some of the coolest vehicles.

The o.d. was last used on the '68s and really wasn't used in Canada in the 60s. It was offered only with sixes and the base V8 up to 307 on the U.S. Big Cars & Chevelles. Rear axle ratio was 3.70, but with o.d. engaged it was like running 2.59s.

They would freewheel coast like an automatic, engine braking only happened out of o.d. Full throttle would automatically kick out of o.d. (if the kickdown is present & working) then re-engage when lifting on the accelerator.

I had a 1964 Chevy truck with a 283 3 speed standard with overdrive with 4:10 rear gears. The truck was like a suburban 2 wheel drive and there is a 65 or 66 same style truck with the same powertrain in a local wrecking yard called Creative Recycling. The owner will sell the truck complete as it can be restored and will not part it out. With the overdrive drive in gear the truck ran real nice at 70 mph.
