Met Don at his beautiful place in Mahone Bay, NS and got to see his car. It was great talking with you!

Bought the 283 and the Power Glide that was out of his parts '63 Parisienne.

Thanks for all the help with the engine Don, it made home safely ... I'll get to enjoy it in the future!

It would be fun to get in the barn and see what is there. You meet the nicest people involved with cars all over Canada.

What!  You came all the way to NS and didn't stop by for a brew (or non-alcoholic refreshment)?  You would have passed within 5 minutes of my place as you drove along the 102... I feel so slighted! no

winkbiggrin  J/K... I know how it is when you are on a mission.  Good job to both for making it happen.

Now what about that '64 you were talking about??

Darryl, tell us about that 283 V-8 you just got. By the way i admire the way you fastened down that baby for the trip home. Good luck with the motor. Cheers.

And I was going to lecture him for not moving it to the front!

Don't ever haul anything like that without putting it all the way to the front. If you are involved in a collision that those straps will rip like 5 pound test line and that engine/trans will come blasting through the front and the sheet metal will barely slow it down. Ask me how I know........

Sorry Mark. I thought you were in Halifax proper. I wanted to avoid Halifax.

PM me your location, as I pass through there to Bridgewater at least once a year.

I'm still working on the '64's logistics.

Stock, low mile (you can tell) 1963 283. It is complete and "unmonkeyed" with.

Yes, it didn't even shimmy/budge at all, and I just took my time (within reason) driving back.

Not much, just a little junk, that's all.

Ha ha... no worries Darryl.  I was just seizing an opportunity to give you the gears a little... wink

To be truthful, I've been really busy lately - working long hours, and way behind in the stuff I have to get done at home.  So it's possible I would not have been able to make it work anyhow.

That said, anytime you're going to be in the area shoot me a PM and we'll see what we can work out.  There's a cool diner that was built a little over a year ago that has decent food, and it's only about 10 minutes off the highway along a 2-lane road (non-stressful drive).  It was built by a local car guy who owns a construction company and he keeps his nice '55 T-Bird inside the restaurant.  The 'fake' T-bird on the roof has working headlights and taillights that come on at night.  And, when you leave you just continue along the Hammonds Plains Road and it will take you onto the 103 to continue your trip to Bridgewater.

I saw that diner on the side of the road coming and going to Mahone Bay/Bridgewater ... not hard to miss.

I didn't realize you would have taken that route already.  It's actually the better way to go.
