Like it up until found out about the nonstock engine.

Nowadays it probably the same cost to go to a newer LS/OD combo then go backwards. But I'd rather keep it stock.

We had one of these back in 1980, bought a Hogan Pontiac Buick on Danforth Avenue in Toronto.  I've attached a photo of a dead ringer for our car.

It was a 301 4bbl option coded with W37 package which was the performance package. IT burned rubber like a scolded cat. It had a split dual exhaust system and Rally IV Wheels and a highway axle ratio like 2.14:1 which gave it what seemed like unlimited top end. It has to be one of my all time favourite cars. I would never utter a bad word about the 301 4bbl as it provided 9 years of trouble free and smooth power.

The car for sale looks nice but since it has been extensively modified from stock I can't comment on these characteristics as compared to my original.

Look-a-like to Ray's '80

Decent looking car.....but I'm guessing it was a 301 originally......and a Pontiac 350 or 400/455...would have bolted right in....almost "plug and play"...

I don't think the wheels suit the car.....but not sure what...if any...would look good on it....

I had a 79 TA...with a 301/4 speed...back in the day....and it also pulled real hard.....but a lot of that was from the stiff 1st and 2nd gear..

Pontiac 301's have a bad reputation......but they did the job........however...if you beat them up.....they self-destructed pretty quick..

That year the Grand Prix came with a 231 Buick V6, a 265 Pontiac V8 or a 301. The Chevy engine swap is not a dumb idea, they later ran with them anyway. The car looks to be in nice shape judging by the pictures.

I would be very grateful to own that car. Its nice in my opinion. I see value to the money they are asking. Best liking interior ( dash ) than any other G Body of the era !
