Thanks Todd - maybe the seller reads this board?

$4K seems like a fair price if it's solid throughout - but it will be a project.

Not sure if I understand the title of this thread. I don't see anything in the listing about a fire.

i saw it in the summer in person. its a cool car but will need everything and i mean everything.but then again you dont see them very of in any condition.   the guy selling is an interesting guy that has a collection of all kinds of cars. he seemed very realistic about what it needs and was will to make a deal.

It's a Shakespeare quote edited for fun.

"double double toil and trouble fire burn and cauldron bubble"

The owner is selling off his projects, or his troubles.

Just having some fun.

I guess the Witches from Macbeth would have been better suited 10 days ago,

Sorry wink

A rare car indeed !

Appears to be super solid but the fact remains that every part of it needs attention. Attention = costs. Rare or not it's hard to justify the costs unless it's for personal satisfaction.

Or a bad coffee.  Lol. biggrin

I'm usually not a patina person but this one actually looks pretty good.

ABC123 has it figured correctly. As a retired 30 year high school English teacher, I can relate to the Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, very well. The witches were always brewing spells to cast upon their victims. I strongly suspect that there is an intended pun in the seller's use of "A Pontiac bubble" since the car is indeed a bubble top. Plus, depending upon a buyer's plans, there is a fair bit of toil and trouble involved in whatever he/she decides to do with the car. I obviously enjoyed the wording. smile

Thanks for the Shakespeare references to bring it all together - toil and trouble indeed!

Admittedly, I was a little rebellious towards Shakespeare in high school English class, thinking at the time how frustrating the olde English wording was while ignoring the brilliance of the man's work.  Luckily I have since come to appreciate the English language and now realize in retrospect that all the teachings I rebelled against in high school actually managed to sink in somehow... wish I could go back an thank them, but surely they realized the greater good of their work just by watching the change in the students during the year.  Not that I was a bad student, mind you, but I certainly didn't open myself up to it as much as I should have...

Indeed, Pontiacanada, Chaucer was quite a challenge to say the least. I suppose Coles Notes did quite well selling their somewhat modified interpretations of the original. Mind you, if you try reading some of the car ads on the internet, I dare say that some of the wordings make Chaucer almost readable. Even the grammar on this site could be used for composition lessons for decades. I am always amused (or dismayed) when people abuse the word its and use it's (it is) instead. Or, a common mistake is to make words plural by incorrectly adding the apostrophe and s. Pontiac is singular. Pontiacs is plural. (Not Pontiac's) However, I digress. I no longer carry a red pen, but old habits do indeed die hard.biggrin

LOL... Darryl, I seem to recall the name Chaucer, but I think I blocked it out...

Brian, I will have to be more careful with my posts knowing that you may decide to take the red pen out of retirement at any moment!  I am indeed guilty of the occasional lapse in attention to my grammar and spelling, though I will admit to looking up words on google when the spelling doesn't look quite right to me, even though I was sure I knew how to spell it years ago...

Then there's the dreaded phone spelling and auto-correct, though I don't use a phone to post very much as I hate using that tiny digital keyboard!  My fingers seem to be just a little bit too big to ensure accuracy every time! smile
