Is it tough to pull a old crank damper?

I'm trying to pull the 327 Damper, but it will not budge one iota. It's deflecting the arms of the puller.

Do I need to heat the damper to crank flange?

Is there a bolt in the front?...It so, did you remove the big washer too?...It shouldn't be that hard to pop off. Spray some PT Blaster in there.

Interesting. I'm using bolts that pass through the puller, then right through the damper, and are retained with a nut on the backside. I didn't have any longer bolts matching the UNF bolts used to mount the crank pulley  So I used 3 crappy god knows what bolts that would pass through the 3 holes. They held, but the puller arms simply began to bend and the bolts began to slide down the puller slots.

I think I need the proper bolts, along with a better puller. But I'll try giving it the whack method. Thanks.

I need that Aussie hydraulic puller as seen at sema...

Your puller sounds a bit suspect. You should be able to pick up a decent Lisle brand one at most parts stores. It should contain the proper bolts to thread into the damper, and be strong enough not to bend.

However, I did strip one on the large center bolt once as I was using a weird method of not letting the engine turn over while trying to remove the damper.

Whack the centre  puller bolt under load...not the balancer. Can u flip the puller around to pull her straight again? And yes...would have pulled the lifters out bottom side but needed the cam to work them up....so I could tap them down to free up.
