I fail to understand how a stripe can make a car collectible.

But then again, it's a Ford. I might be a bit more open minded if it was a GM product...

So... to any Ford guys on here... was this a package sold through dealers?  If so, it's the first I've heard of it.

The paperwork (or what's left of it) seems to indicate so.  Plus, from the paint showing through the worn carpet, it appears to be an original red car, which would support this.

It does obviously seem to be priced highly considering its condition, but it is probably pretty rare, if it is what the ad says it is.

I believe it was a package you could order. No mention of what engine is in it. Didn't the original have a 460?

As a lifelong Ford man, I do believe that you are correct, Todd. You are also correct on the engine too; the original would have been a 460. As for the stripe, I personally never liked them on any car of any make. I always thought they made the vehicle look kind of cheap, even on a '69 Mustang GT or Shelby.

In 1976 remember riding my bicycle down Brant street in Burlington, passing by the Ford dealer (now Discovery), and there sat one fresh off the truck. Remember looking at the window sticker and it had the 460 and the price was 5200. Of course being a kid that watched the show, I just thought they were to die for. It was gone within a week.

They looked pretty nice when new, but that one in the ad is pretty sad, and seeing he's expecting 10g's for it..c'mon!

It was a Ford factory order. Somewhere between 1000 - 1300 were made . Various engine options from the 351 to 460 ci. Originally bench seat cars. One of the local dealers used to stock one at one point

Plus with a Ford one can get a Marti report verifying what it came with. The serial number will have the year, engine and body code. But the Marti report besides the build sheet is needed. Similar to GM historical.

It was a neat looking car. Back when you could go and buy one new from the dealer. Wonder if there's a way to see the sales figures the day onwards from when Smokey and the Bandit was released ?

 As long as it was previously reg'd in BC....you are good to go....

We have NO annual...or presale mandatory safety inspection here.....

Police can pull you over....and mandate safety inspection by a certain date......Or pull your plates and impound vehicle.....if they feel it is a road hazard...

If you bring one in from out of province......It must be inspected...prior to registration..

BC cars DO rust....but for the most part......it's lower sheet metal issues.......

Frames and suspension components are usually OK....unless car was brought in from the east....or was driven in a harsh environment..

Not defending the sellers price....because that car leaves ME cold......but around here....it seems that you have to start real high.......because the buyers really try and beat your price up...

I'll bet he wants 5K....and started WAY high...

If he started at $6500....they'd be offering $2500
