These don't come available very often. By far the vast majority of GT-37's were 350-2bbl cars as in order to get the GT-37 items you had to buy any V8. In line with the low cost muscle car image most buyers opted for the lowest cost entry point, the 350-2bbl. That isn't necessariy a bad thing though as a 350-2bbl back then was putting out 265 HP if it was a Pontiac engine and with no carpets and sound deadening material the basic car was lighter than the rest of the LeMans line. There is a lot of work ahead here but it looks like a great project with a low production coveted Pontiac model. Most piece are available from the big Pontiac suppliers stateside, all it takes is some money.

It looks like a neat car with some potential. The 350 2-barrel was base but it came with a performance dual exhaust system like the GTO.

An ex-neighbor had a '72 version of that car, a LeMans GT hardtop coupe. He bought it from the original owner in 1988 and it had never seen salt or snow. It was stripped down with manual steering, manual drums, a nice 400 4-barrel big valve engine, a wide range 4-speed with factory Hurst shifter, GTO duals with the '72-only side splitters, and 3.55 Safe-T-Track. The car was bought new in November '71 and went straight into storage. The original cloth bench seat had matching vinyl seat upholstery put on over top of the original cloth when new, plus he also had 2 complete spare decal sets. He shocked me when he told me he sold it to a friend that lives in the boonies around Orillia. That next owner never really sweat keeping it clean, as witnessed by the hasty 2003 photo I took of it shown below. I still have one original Firestone Wide Oval G70-14 tire that was damaged early in it's life from that car, sitting in my garage.

There was a one owner 71 GT37 in Minnedosa MB for sale years ago on Kijiji, It had the bench seat, Pontiac 400 4 speed on the floor, 3:55 posi option. It was grey with an ugly aftermarket vinyl roof that the wife wanted because she didn't like the Quazal gold color with two eyebrow stripes. I posted it on PY and a gentleman from Chicago Illinois came all the way here with a trailer to pick it up. He stopped for a visit on his way back. Neat little car made to go !

John Sawruck always talked about his GT37 at the POCI conventions. He said it was the only GM car (maybe Pontiac?) that came out with hood pins.
