Nice piece, and not an easy find.

I was told the Chevy tilt wasn't the same as the Canadian Pontiac tilt, without a lot of modifications.

True ?

I think they are the same. Well, at least in 67. I have a 67 Tilt from a CP to compare to an Impala. will post pictures later.

Difference is the 68 had a collapsible column, 67 did not. The column pictured is I believe a 68.

We know the steering wheel in at least 67 was the same chev and CP. And as far as the firewall, and firewall to the box...they are the same.

As far as the column shifter and tilt collars, I cannot see any difference (at least from the photos).

$500 is a fair price if its a good as advertised.

Since proved myself wrong!

67 should be collapsible too Mark. Is your's not? I think under that black plastic sort of sheath there should be that mesh for the collapsing. Unless I'm wrong here, I thought all GM columns made after 66 were collapsible.

Your right Carl. My 67 is collapsible. I hadn't looked at it in so long I'd forgot it was.

And this column is the same as a Canadian Pontiac tilt Column. Same length. 34" steering wheel shaft end to the rag flange. Same steering wheel. And should work no mods. The only difference is the lever design and the bracket. And they all can be changed.

The 2 part collar is Chev/CP specific, but you can use your non tilt parts. This is the first time I could actually get a good image and some numbers to side by side compare.

The fellow selling the column graciously did some measuring and replied back to me with the numbers.

Would the American Pontiac like a 68 Grand Prix or Catalina use the same steering column as the CP B body of similar year?

I'm pretty sure the USA Pontiac column is different, and will not work in the CP body.

Is a '64 era tilt just as hard to find?

Based on my wrecking yard experiences at least, I'd say the 64 piece is even tougher.

No, you need an A body tilt. Length is quite a bit different.
