Don't kid yourself, I seriously considered doing that intake and putting a set of square port heads on it!

My friend with some L72 cars wants me to do it in the worst way. He even offered some of the hard to find pieces for the conversion.

Years ago I raced a 1968 Camaro 396/375 HP in SS/D, a very tough class.

Switching to a 396/325 HP meant a drop to SS/H, still tough but not as much.

Using the rec port intake with a Q jet as an experiment proved the point, car ran the same.

Many have done the same with great results.

At one point I considered aluminum heads too. But I chose the stock route in the end.
