Clutch fork boot still available from GM

When you get tired of me posting up about stuff you can still get new from GM, either just tell me, or ignore these posts!

When I was working on my engine swap I noticed my clutch fork boot was basically junk, full of cracks.

Low and behold, a part number changeup later, I had a current number, ordered the boot and got it today. Installed it tonight. Fits perfect, looks just like the original and GM list was somewhere around $28.

Part # 14007355 if anyone needs to go to their dealer and order one. I suspect it fits at least mid 60's through late 70's but I never confirmed that.

I suspect there is more of this old stuff still available than we know about.
Perhaps before we buy any repro parts we should look up the original number and fire it off to you for a search ( lol )

That is an excellent suggestion.

Guys, any time you have a part number you want to know about, post it up on the forum or contact me. I'm happy to track old numbers to see if they are available.

You should get an office next George's in Oshawa.wink

I know of quite a few parts that are unobtanium in regards to '64 Parisiennes. Imagine if they are still kicking around, collecting dust in some GM dealership in Punkydoodle Corner, Manitoba.

And that's one thing I check when I search numbers. There's two systems GM uses. One of them I use to search Canadian dealer stock, one I use to search GM warehouses. It's interesting that the systems have overlap, as both will search warehouses. So why don't I just use the one that searches warehouses and dealers all at once? Because it is very poor at catching when a number changes up and still is available under another number. A good example is this clutch fork boot. It took some searching to find that there is a new number for it. For some reason, GM doesn't make it easy to find the new number sometimes.

That's the fun part of my job. I love the detective work, the part of chasing down an elusive part!

The GM fan belt for my 427 has been discontinued many years. I searched dealers and of all things, there is still one dealer in Canada who has one. Neat thing is, when I called to buy it he told me it was sitting in a box of obsolete parts in a corner upstairs in their parts department, and it happens to be in a town 200 miles from here where my sister lives!

And yes I could put on a jobber belt, but why not have the belt with the GM logo on it if I can. Of course there's still some on ebay but not in Canada.
