427 Maiden Voyage

Thanks again guys. It looks like our weather is finally starting to turn and I will be able to drive it. The streets are in pretty good shape now.

Hmm, pretty similar to what I bought but not identical. I haven't put mine on yet, maybe next week or so. I'll post pics when I do.

Carl, the addition of a correctly detailed (for the most part) 427 in that car has enhanced the value IMHO. And I am usually the one to bemoan the modification of a survivor. That air cleaner is a rare item with the correct broad snorkel.

Weitek hose clamps are always impressive to see when they are placed in service where they are supposed to be. Yes, once you tighten them you can't re-use them.

To buy battery cables from Lectric Limited would be a vote in favor of correctness. All you need is a tar-top Delco (last used on the 66's).

I would keep the 11" drums. If they were only 9½" that might be a different story.

I'll bet that car puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. I absolutely love it! 10 thumbs ups (er, wait, 1, 2, 3, 4...) biggrin

We'll have to rendezvous somewhere with your 66 427 4 speed and my 70 454 4 speed.

You do realize the air cleaner is also a fake? I built it.

So I get home from the lake and decide it's too nice a day to leave my car inside so I take it for a drive. I headed for a drive but because I haven't been feeling good for 4 days, stupid cold, I decide it's going to be a short drive. It turned out to be a total of maybe four miles. As I'm backing into the driveway I see this big trail of antifreeze in front of the car as I'm backing up. It just makes no sense to me. Hoses are new, radiator is new. So tonight I check it out. It appears I never completely tightened the clamp on the lower hose at the rad. I have over a hundred miles on the new engine and it never leaked before. How can that be... One of those things that makes you go huh.

Expansion and contraction does some weird things.
