Do you have the full casting's for the block & heads? I presume when you say "front casting numbers" you're talking about the stampings on the passenger side of the block ahead of the cylinder head.

HM engine stamping suffix is:
1965 327 in a Corvette or Chevy II,
1968 327 in a full size car,
1969 350 in a full size car.

Block casting # 3956618 is:

1969 327 - 235 hp.

1969 350 - 250, 255 & 300 hp.

1969 350 - 255 & 300 hp.

plus Chevelle, Chevy II, Camaro & Corvette engines.

"This block was identical with # 3932386 except for minor bulkhead casting changes.  This block was used from approximately January 1969 through April 1969.  This block was used in all 327 and low performance 350 applications although some 300 hp applications have been verified.  Chevrolet documentation shows this block was used in both 2- and 4- bolt configurations.

Cylinder Head casting # 3932441 is:

1969 350 - 250 & 255 hp.   Full Size, Chevelle, Camaaro & Chevy II.

1.94 / 1.50 valves, 76.26 combustion chamber.

So, with all of this, I'd say you've got a 1969 350 2 bbl engine.

Does the 791155811 match the last 9 digits of VIN number of the car?

Hi all..A while back the motor had a slight knock, after trying to find it I decided to pull the mount bolts and lift the motor up and took off the pan to check and replace rod bearings, after looking at the bearings they looked brand new, knew I was on the wrong track after finding NO  silver or gold glitter in oil or pan  so the motor must have been redone before it went into storage. later found out the knocking was a sticky lifter ,prob a little ridge from sitting so long, all good now !! .the question I have is the bearings are standard size,so did it get just a ring and bearing job,or did it get bored also.?? is there anyway other than taking the head off it to
check stamp on pistons or bore size ?..really not that important to me to take a head off but would be kinda good to know Thanks all

618 is from memory both 2 and 4 bolt. I think it is a Central casting block only (machined at both Flint V8 and Tonawanda). We got these blocks in Australia as 4 bolt in 1969 L48 engines and also 2 bolt in 1969 LM1 engines, both machined and assembled at Tonawanda.

441 heads were new for 1969, they are the heads used on both 1969 LM1 and 1969 L65, same 350 engine just the LM1 had a 4BBL carb and intake, the L65 used the larger 2BBL carb off the 235hp 1969 327. 9:1 compression, 1.94/1.5 valves. Basically the same head as a 186 or 041 but with 75cc chamber rather than 64cc. I have 441's at home from both Flint V8 plant and Tonawanda. The Flint V8 one is also machined at Flint V8 plant, you can tell by the machining.

HM suffix in 1969 means it is an L65 which will be a 2 bolt. This is the code for L65 auto in full size or ChevyII. Engine plant code says 1/6/69 Tonawanda assembly. I think you'll find it is a Central Foundry block though. Is it machined for the little grub screw at the front bewteen the water pump and the valley cover? If it has the grub screw there it may have been machined at Flint V8 and assembled at Tonawanda.
