I think I found the Protecto-Plate for my 427 4-spd convertible

As you can imagine, more documentation is better with a car like this.  When I bought it, he THOUGHT he had the plate but could not find it.  I just received a cryptic text, years later, indicating he's got it and do I want it?  Of course I want it!

Super, every bit of documentation helps!!!! The stamping #'s of the block, tranny & diff are listed on the plate.

When I bought the 70 Parisienne, I knew they had the Protect-O-Plate as I'd seen it previously, but it was nowhere to be found. A year or so later the lady shot me a note saying she'd found it.

Very cool. If youre worried about him being too inconvenienced to mail it, I could pick it up (assuming hes still in Edm) and send it your way.
Congrats!
PS. I have mine for my Beaumont. Original owners surname was Tempest LOL.

That is cool how the last owner remembered about you! Most would just discard....how did he get a hold of you? Cool docs to have!

I actually texted him every 4-6 months to update him on the car, how its coming along, etc, and so was always in some contact with him, so I guess when he ran across it he knew how to get ahold of me! That's how I got the car itself too... just persistently bugged him forever.

Nice score Dave. You really can't put a value on stuff like that.

I seem to remember you posting a photo of the Protect-O-Plate way back when you were looking at buying the car. Did it go missing?

I call it pleasant persistence, like a good salesman. wear em down but so nicely they feel bad rejecting you!

It's not a bad thing as long as it's done in honesty.  At least the seller knows the new owner will care for the car properly because they really wanted it.

It did, for years!  There was a PHOTO of it that I'd seen and posted I guess before I ever saw the car itself, but it never came with the car.  He couldn't find it, but found it years later and so sent it!

Dave, if you are able, can you please post a couple large pictures of the protect-o-plate and any period documents?
Feel free to photoshop out your vin ect because I don't care about that stuff...

I ask because I can find pictures of Pontiac-USA documents, but the Pontiac-Canada documents all seem to be different, and nearly non-existent.

This is my current "collection":

IMG_9683s.jpg

I'd love to one day have a full packet of period Canadian paperwork - even if it isn't actually from my car.

Just an FYI:   The photo Dave posted shows a black / grey Protect-O-Plate.   I've seen two tone green and two tone blue ones as well, and will see if I can post photo's of them.   I've grabbed them out of cars in the wreckers, quite cool to see.

That's exactly how I got the four 1970 buick paper - including an old registration slip, the CAA stickers, and the uniroyal brochure.
I nearly crapped my pants at finding those - the only way it could have been any better was if they were 1970 Pontiac papers.

Unusual that the Protect-O-Plate isn't filled in.   I once found a warranty card that wasn't filled in.

thanks!! - that's actually perfect!!

It's nice to see this stuff - I didn't know if I was seeing the colour wrong - or if the 1969 GM-Canada documents were different colour than the 1970 - or if this was a divisional difference.

Other than the stuff I have, this post is the only one I have seen with pictures of the GM-Canada documents.

If anyone here has 1970 GM-Canada/Pontiac 'New vehicle warranty and owner protection plan' documents, I'd really appreciate seeing them to compare against these Buick documents.
If anyone knows if all 1970 GM-Canada protect-o-plate documents look like mine, I'd also appreciate you speaking up.

I finally dug up a couple different Protect-O-Plates, and blank warranty cards that I'd harvested from the junk yards:

Protect-O-Plates 1.jpg

Notice a slight difference in the warranty cards.   The "1970 Pontiac-Acadian" on the left is shaded blue, the one on the right is grey.  See below for the dates on the bottoms of all the cards.

Protect-O-Plates 2.jpg

Two tone blue Protect-O-Plate, Printed in Canada 7/69, part # 734326 (for 1970 model year cars)

- my early built 1970 model year cars also have the black/grey Protect-O-Plate like Dave's 1969 car.

Two tone green Protect-O-Plate, Printed in Canada 8/70, Second Edition part # 734326  (for 1971 model year cars).

Protect-O-Plates 3.jpg

1970 Pontiac-Acadian in blue, Litho in Canada 8/69, part # 734318 (First Edition)

1970 Pontiac-Acadian in grey, Litho in Canada 11/69, part # 734318 (Second Edition)

I'd never noticed the warranty cards were different.

I'd guess you're just seeing variation between print runs, nothing more.
If anything yours confirm that my '70 Buick stuff is the same colour as Pontiac stuff.

I'm going to send you a message.

Interesting, your 1970 Buick warranty booklet is printed 8/69, but "1970 Buick" is in grey font.   I thought maybe the early ones were blue font, then to grey for the 2nd edition, but it's not the case with your Buick booklet.

I was scratching my head last night because I didn't see it!!

Your post has prompted me to make another "wanted" thread here.
