Exposing the Shoulder Seatbelt Anchors Points under the Headliner in 68

Just an update...

I would like to purchase a pair of those X-Ray goggles that cdnpont posted as they are needed. I purchased a new video snake from Cdn Tire for $99 (great deal as reg prices is $349) but still could not locate the fabled anchor point. I did find a hole which I believe would have been used for as a retainer to hang up the optional shoulder strap and after making a hole there, I guess I will put a nice new coat hanger over the hole. So, I will have two coat hangers on the driver's side.

I was working on the drivers side and Cheviacs pic was from the passenger side but on the drivers side, where the anchor should be...... is a cable running down the roofline channel and then goes to the light and/or the rear defogger blower.

I can't see myself precisely locating this anchor without exposing it.

Does anyone currently have a two door 67 or 68 Sport roof that is being worked on where the headliner is out and could get a picture of the driver's side interior roofline? Aside from that, I guess I will have to give up for now.

Would something like this help.

Slide the magnet along the roof line to the mounting bracket in the dark so the flashlight illuminates the position in the headliner.

wrap the magnet in a piece of heater hose so it does not stick to everything.

Just schemin while I scratch my head for more ideas.

I use rare earth magnets and they come in 1 inch diameter inserted into a mounting cup and hold very well.  Possibly something like that would determine the raised area of the seat belt mount

So a couple pictures from the 69. First bolt is about 2 inches back of the leading edge of the back window.

This is great Jerel, Thx for taking pics of the 69.

So according to the Fisher Manuals, 67's and 68's 2 door HT's anchor mounts are in front of the side window where it contacts the roofline (towards to the windshield) and in 69, they moved them behind where the side window contacts the roofline. It certainly helps to see what is behind the fabric for future reference. Thanks Jerel!

Thx, the more the merrier!!  Plus, I think this is a good thread for the future if we can get a number of pics together for 67, 68, and 69's that show the exposed inner roofline for the next person that ventures out to install retractable 3 point seat belts.

You bet, it sure does.  All the pics are good and appreciate the feedback.  I will post something once I am further along with the upgrade.
