Does anyone have a hi-beam 4 lamp retainer ring ?

Does anyone have a hi-beam 4 lamp retainer ring ?

My one high beam retainer ring popped today as we were installing the bumper assembly.

The pinch weld failed.

Thanks in advance

I think this illustrates the high beam (left) and the low beam (right) of a left hand side lighting assembly.

The arrow would be where the notch is in the ring to clear the spring on the HB. I'd say I have a highbeam and your in luck! I'll meet you halfway anytime. I'll be in Cambridge at 10am Friday?

I did a mock-up of a 69 bumper last year to hang on the wall. There's an odd use of the retainer rings:

1.  Driver low beam and passenger high beam are the same retainer ring, but different than what's used in 2.

2.  Passenger low beam and driver high beam use the same retainer ring, but different than what's used in 1.

Which high beam retainer ring are you looking for?

The retainer ring that Mark has posted is the oddball one, the tab is on the opposite side of the notch for the spring.

As an aside, if you know someone with a TIG welder they can weld the tab back on for you. That's what I ended up doing.

Mine are clearly different between the High beam and low beam.

I thought I had lots but every one I have is the same as the low beam.

Mid year change ?

Thank you Mark !

Can we do 403 ?

Thanks Clint. Looking at both rings, from the front.

Right or left assembly; The left ring always has the spring notch clockwise to the adjacent screw tab. The right ring always has the spring notch Counter clockwise to that screw tab.

Is your ring the same as the one I have for you Randy (pictured)?

So I fixed this ring with what I had last year.

Pop rivets biggrin

Low beam on left.

I was at the body shop today installing the front bumper.

I was there a very long time because the body guy wanted it "perfect"

For anyone who knows these 1969s, they were never perfect.

I did not look at it closely when it wiggled.

I just assumed my fix it job failed.

Just went out with my PJs and found the real problem.

The retaining spring has failed.

No where to be found no

Last year was a bit of an education for me re headlight buckets & retainer rings. I was doing mock-ups of a 68 Grande Parisienne bumper (with hide-aways), a 69 Parisienne, and a 70 Parisienne.

I had no idea the buckets were different from high beam to low beam (I think they do that so you put the correct headlight in the correct spot), nor did I realize a difference in the retainer rings. I can't remember about 1968 (but I think they also used a couple types of retainer rings), but 1969 certainly used 2 different retainer rings, but 1970 used all the same type of retainer rings.

I can take a peak tomorrow. I still have the 69 here at home. Wife hasn't noticed it since we got back so I better move it along pretty soon.
