68 BEAUMONT S.D


Hi does anyone know what wheels came on the 68 Beaumont sd from the factory?   also open to opinions on rims that would be best suited for the car? pictures would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Ive seen some 68 SD build sheets that list wire wheel covers with the blank black circle center caps

I believe these are the right ones. The centre cap is actually the same as the centre cap on the 67-69 Beaumont rally wheel.

 I believe 1968 was the transition year for white to amber turn signals.

 "1968 marked another change:

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 required amber

(rather than the earlier white) lens front turn signals;

rear signals could be red or amber.

Note: It was also in the sixties that 4-way hazard flashers were first required".

Often seen with a nice Full Wheel Cover. (likely standard on SD396 and parking lenses do look clear in this 1968 rendering)

That's great thank you, i know its prob a long shot but would anybody know of those wire wheel covers for sale I want to bring my 68 sd back to as original as possible, it is a numbers matching 396 auto with white bucket interior i live in southern ontario any info would b greatly appreciated , thanks

 I have 4 you can have, they are used and are over 50 years old. 14" though. PM me details.

I'll have to see if I can find my old photos, but I'm pretty sure that the '68 I had in 1980 had amber lenses.

My 67 had them    This was in 1979. I had to pay 2950.00 cash for this (with new paint and new top )  1 of 66
