sorry, i should have said crank mechanism, took out the side window and found the quarter window mech was broken, someone has overcranked it i guess. the old grease is like soft plastic so its no wonder the winders are stiff

I think it looks like a little cast gearbox,

I have a pair but I checked and if the left is the same as the one in the drawing above, mine is stripped! Other one is good but the pictured one is stripped.

Hi.... What is wrong with yours? Are the gears stripped? If not they are very rebuildable, very easy. I have a left one I rebuilt and a right one just removed from the car. I bought a pair of NOS ones.

I can get another pair of NOS ones if you are interested, not cheap...

HTH..

On my 59 and 63, there was a sheet metal plate at the base of the screw that was held on by peened over pot metal. I took it apart and cleaned and regreased it, then was able to tap for screws and refasten the plate. Not sure if that is possible here. The worm gears were all in good shape, that bottom plate would fall off and be found in the bottom of the door.

Exactly how its done. Just be careful when you pry around the peened over lip and drill and tap the rivet holes for sheet metal screws..

hi.... You'll be looking at close $200CD for a pair, by the time you get them here. Probably 3-5 weeks delivery..

Google the part number and go from there...
