A few pics from 1969 have been uploaded to the Halifax Municipal Archives recently. I tend to enjoy old city pics, for the buildings and cars, plus the slice of history of people just going about their day at that particular moment. It's a good way to see things the way that they really were, without the skew of memories which fade and change over time. For the cars, it's nice to see them as people actually drove them back in the day.
As required by Canadian Poncho, these pics are permitted for reproduction and use by Halifax Municipal Archives.
Zoom in on the '65 Pontiac taxi:
This Parisienne was a new car when this pic was taken:
'67 Camaro... RS?
Looks like a '63 Laurentian passing by...
Couple of VWs, A Firenza (?), Austin America (I think), and a '69 Camaro looming in the background...
A nice variety of what you'd expect to see on the road in 1969 Halifax...

'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
My personal favorite in these photos is the 57 Chevy wagon. I saw one just like this at the roadside in downtown Halifax in 1978. Could they have been the same car? Probably not but as Todd notes this pic was taken in at least 1968 (See Cutlass) and the car still looks solid.
I worked a lot in Halifax from 1980-86 and I was still seeing solid 50s and 60s cars on the road there in the summertime. I even bought a 56 Chevy 210 2 door wagon there in 1980.
Halifax Municipal Archives recently changed software and providers for their archive photos, so all of the above photo links are no longer any good.

I can look up those photos again and add them at another time, when I have a few moments. Shouldn't cause any problem for the CP site, as I know the archives pics are public domain.
Honestly, I don't know if anybody ever goes back and looks at these threads, so I'm careful to not spend a bunch of time on something that nobody looks at...
