Well done Dave!

Perfect!  One of my favourite feature car stories of all.  Love that you kept the original paint with all the blemishes that tell the story of the car.  Everything you did to it was just as it should be, in my book.

Curious as to how/where you got your resin cast Deluxe emblems chromed.

Thanks everyone for the positive replies.   its certainly was an extreemly involved 2 year project.  I have always wanted a beaumont wagon, so i was very determained to build it no matter how bad it was!

The deluxe emblems i used the Micheals craft store silicone mould and resin kits,  its white resin so i then sprayed them with basecoat/clearcoat silver, and they are holding up pretty good,  be on for almost 2 years now with no problems.  I did the rear Dealer emblem the same way, because i wanted to save the original

Certainly one of my favorite cars. I was able to visit and see the progress along the way. Still love dropping by and seeing Dave's amazing work. Wish I could have 20% of his talent. Thankfully, I can pick his brain on a regular basis and he hasn't slammed the door on me.......yet!!

Wow, really really impressed on how this car looks from where you started in such a short time. Love the colour change on the interior, engine looks awesome. I noticed it is a radio delete car as well.

Still running the three speed? Or did you change that as well? Congrats on the car so far.

Hey Dave,

As soon as I saw the first picture of this car.  I knew this was your car.  Very appropriate that I saw this posted this morning.  As I found a car that I know will be "right up your alley:. Yesterday, I found the almost exact sister car.  A 1965 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 6 cylinder, three speed manual transmission station wagon. Now for the part I know you will really enjoy.  The car I found is a Canadian export RHD station wagon.  Original factory paint code K = Artesian Turquoise with interior code 749 = Aqua cloth and vinyl bench seats.

I really enjoyed reading your one year odyssey from purchase back to the road.  Then the next year to change the drivetrain.  You and I are "kindred spirits" when it comes to Canadian built Chevelles and Beaumonts.  We don't just go with what's known.  We both "dig deeper" to learn more about these cars.   We've been friends for almost 25 years.  Who've shared many great car adventures over the years.   I consider you one of my best friends.  You are one of the "five horsemen of Canadian built Chevelles and Beaumonts."   Those five horsemen being Greg Schinkel, Colin Whitworth, Mark Stubbington, you and myself.   I would love for the five of us to get together - to see what adventures would unfold an ensue.  With Mark Stubbington and you being our "good luck charms" to finding the weird and wonderful cars that are still out there.

This car is another example of the right car finding the right owner.  Others would have grabbed the luggage rack and whatever caught their eye.  Scrapping the rest.  You like I can see the "hidden story and value" in cars that others miss.   I wonder about all the parts cars out there and the information they hold.  That the present owners don't consider to be interesting or important.   I would love to be contacted by owners of parts cars to document their stories before they are crushed and those stories are lost forever.   Send me messages here or my gmail account 72Searcher@gmail.com

Dave congratulations on the great job you've done with your wagon.  Whose original story stopped in 1985 - when the car was 20 years old.   I'm glad to know a "car guy" like you.  As this cars future story started after it was more than 50 years old.   Well done sir, well done.

Thanks for the kind words Dave!   you almost brought a tear to my eye.

Yes,  i do have a thing for the unusual canadian cars.  most would have crushed this one without even realizing its rarity.

Beautiful car. Im wondering what the chrome pieces were on the back of the car on what I guess you would call the D pillar? Reminds me of the curved mirrors for seeing around tight corners on buildings.

Those are the wind deflectors for the rear window all part of the roofrack combination,  after 65 they changed the roof rack to have the long one accross the top

Yes i still have the roof rack and deflectors in a box,  i still have not even opened it since i got the car,  too busy with the car to have paid attention to the rack,  part of this winters project i guess!

I somehow missed your response amidst my usual reading.  Thanks very much for the info, I never thought to look for resin casting stuff at Michaels.  I'll have to check them out.  :)
