Anyone have a WCFB four barrel laying around?

This site sells the best carb kits, not the cheapest, just the best. He makes his own leather accelerator pumps. His kit link is very complete. He used to buy up old parts stock off the shelf when GM dealers, suppliers, and rebuilders were doing bulk disposals. The 4gc for my 409 is very rare and expensive/hard to find, I bought a rebuilt AFB from him, it was rebuilt long ago by a GM carb rebuilder, works great.

He breaks Chevrolet down into different years, quite a few carbs listed for 1966 up, but only 1 283 and 327 Chevy II Rochester 4gc carb for both engines and only with a standard. His kits tend to be very custom, not what you get from Canadian Tire or NAPA or Summit.

www.thecarburetorshop.com/Passengerkits.htm

I use his site as a reference site when someone wants to find out about a carb. As I said before, the other GM engines had a model of 4 gc as well, these frequently had some very different parts from a Chevy 4gc.

Hey Guys picked up my new 4 barrel manifold yesterday. It has the bore sizes of 1 3/8 which is what I was looking for. So I guess the next step is to ask if any one has a good carb to fit or knows of a good source to get one. It's for a Powerglide equipped car so I am looking for the right linkage on it for an automatic.

Here are a couple of pics. Casting date appears to be early 64 so should work well enough on my 66 283.

Thanks for all the help so far!

This is a 409 4 gc, says 750cpm, a 283 would be about 450.

That sounds about right. I don't want to over carburate it. I've made that mistake too many times.

My bro has one of the big ones on his 340 horse 409 as well. Tough to find for sure.

I have 2 different ones to chose from,   both have slightly different bore sizes,   neither one has a carb number tag anymore,  but they both came off 327 motors from 62-64 era. the one was an autoline rebuild with C-960( i think thats the autoline code, not a gm number).   not sure why the different bore sizes, but i will get some pics and measurements later today for you Ken

Sounds great. I have a parts one so far from my brother's stash but not sure if it is a good fit.

 C960 Autoline shows as fitting 64-66 327.

Cool,   i checked out the autoline website,  very good!

I see that my carb has a slightly different throttle linkage attachement so i searched it.   there is also the C-9064 listed as a 67 C10 truck, but they have manual choke.   Mine has the auto choke.  anyway,  looks like there are a few different variations out there, but all seem to have the same 1 3/8 bore if its a 283/327 application.

I have 2 of the Holley 4bbl carbs that were I believe on some small blocks, probably 450 cfm. Some hot rodders used them on dual quad intakes or tunnel rams.

Those were great carbs!  I used to run one on a 292 six with a Clifford 4 barrel manifold, cam and headers and it really ran well. The Holley 600 was just too much for it. Wish I had kept it but I think in this case I'll try to stick with original equipment for the factory look. Of course if it turns out to run poorly maybe I'll get back to you.

Both carbs are complete but will need a rebuild.

I wonder what the difference would be from a non AC car. For that matter I wonder what the internal difference would be between a 283 2 barrel and the 4 barrel option. Heads? Cam? or nothing?

I know the cam is the same on the 195 horse and 220 horse, also the heads I believe are the same as well. I think it's only the 4 barrel and dual exhaust that bump the power rating up 25.

That's what is on my non-original 283. Did run great.
