Hmmm. Think it'd survive the drive back to Calgary?

With a dead cylinder you'll likely wreck the cats driving it that far.

Just needs some seafoam, all crapped up in the valves. Itd clear up in short order. Or not.

 Seafoam can't fix the biggest problem with it though.

 Is it the ugly factor Carl? Pontiac got too good at that in the design department!

Yes, exactly.

I've never even thought of our G8 as being a particularly good looking car but we enjoy it so much I can overlook that.

Toyota, Honda, and BMW also made some real ugly stuff a la Aztec, in later years. Like the Venza, etc. As a body style, the Aztecs were ahead of their time, they are all making CUVs now. They evolved to replace a nice station wagon, just taller. I thought Edsel were ahead of their time and ugly too.

I opened this thread, because I don't recall any Axtec with the GXP badge - as I recall, near the end Pontiac started using the 'GXP' badge for their equivalent of Chevrolet's Super Sport.

I believe that the only GXP's were:
Solstice = LNF (turbo ecotec)
G8 = bigger V8 and brake/suspension upgrades iirc
G6...
That one appears to be the "street heat" version - iirc these cars both came with a hopped up version of the V6, but the street heat version had bigger wheels, a more in your face front bumper/grille assembly, and the whale tail straight off of a 1980's Porsche 911.

Being a life long Pontiac fan, I honestly thought long and hard about buying a Pontiac before I bought my Cobalt;
The G6-GT/6spd was the main contender - and IMHO the GXP G6's were just awful.

I may be in the minority, but I knew Pontiac was doing them a dis-service when they renamed the Grand Am a G6 (it was suggested that the tie in was that the G6 was a sixth generation Grand Am);
Name recognition is a HUGE factor in new vehicle sales, and near the end, Pontiac seemed to repeatedly shoot itself in the foot...

Back to the original topic at hand (Aztec), I have always been in the camp of thinking that Pontiac was actually a bit too ahead of the curve on that vehicle;
Cutting edge designs either end up as timeless, or maligned - only time will tell which is associated.
I thought the exterior design of the Aztec was different, but I never hated it - I really liked when GM did an about face, and started painting the bumpers (remember they did this with a handful of models at the time).
The thing about the Aztec that many people forget is that it was a cross-over, before there was a cross-over category - in a market flooded with, and buyers accustomed to conventional passenger cars, vans, trucks, or SUV's, this car didn't have a category, or real marketing strategy.
These days there are fewer and fewer conventional cars, GM and Ford have left the mini van segment all together, and everyone sells cross overs of several flavours - most regular cars are actually more of a cross over than a conventional two or four door passenger car.
I liked the Aztec, but never agreed with the lambasting of the vehicle.

If Pontiac actually made a GXP, it probably would have made the collective automotive journalists' heads explode.

I did see Pontiac dealers make "GXP" models out of the G5/Pursuit - from my observation, only one time did the Pursuit/G5 GXP car appear to NOT be based on the GT model.

I always thought that GM should have made the Supercharged or Turbocharged "delta" car a Pontiac, because even near the end, Pontiac was supposed to be an up-level Chevrolet - and having a Chevrolet that was better than anything a Pontiac offered in the same platform just seemed to further do Pontiac a dis-service.

I totally forgot about hte Grand Prix!!

THe Bonneville sounds familiar, but I cannot honestly say I read anything about them outside of period 'Pontiac Enthusiast' articles on proposed/forthcoming models...

I'd possibly be interested if this Aztek was a bit closer to me. I don't think it'd make it across the country with that bad cylinder.
