1966 Parisienne fender

Does anyone know where in Alberta, hopefully close to Edmonton, where I can find a replacement front passenger side fender for my 1966 Pontiac Parisienne??

Thanks in advance!

Howdy, how bad is yours? if it is just lower panel rust it may be simpler to repair. Maybe post a picture.

That being said I have a few 66 parts cars.

Hi Ken, I'll see if I can put a picture of the panel here, but yeah not so much of a rust issue. The front wheel fell off in travel when I first picked up the car. Long story through a shady deal I put too much trust into. Fender got damaged when the wheel fell off. Been looking for a replacement since, mostly kijiji, lol!

Thanks!

Looks like it's pretty kinked and distorted all right!  I hope it wasn't too crazy when you lost the wheel!

I may have quite a good one. I will have to post a picture later today.

I'm near Lac La Biche so thats about a 2.5 hour drive from The big E.

Just a thought.....   While you have the passenger fender off replace the heater core.   That makes it a simple job and it may not have been replaced prior.   Copper and aluminum are now available.

Spectra seems to be the choice for the core.  Check Rock Auto for the CP and use this months discount code.

I never would have thought of that... typically I find that if someone offers some advise like that, I should seriously consider it. Thank you Cliff!

Yeah Lac La Biche is reasonable in my mind. If your fender is well enough, for sure would like to work something out with you Ken!

I sort of got lucky with the wheel falling off, because it could have been SO much worse, especially if I was in the middle of traffic. Really lucked out that no other drivers were around, and I JUST so happened to be driving right by a spot to pull off the road, into a parking stall right as the wheel fell off. Had very little "weird sound" warning.. mere seconds. I actually though something under the hood was boiling over quick, it was a really hot day, and happened on a Friday the 13th no less.

If I had made it down south and decided to take the car, I would have driven it home. That could have been the end of me.

Thanks..

Some of us have done it the bruised  knuckle way by pulling down the inner fender well. Not fun.

You got me to thinking, that you will also have to get under the dash to get some of the bolts to get to the core.

I dug out my spec sheets that I got from GM and also from my Assembly manual which shows the tech side of things.

It is interesting looking at the core specs, spacing of core and core sizes for the various engines.

The Assembly manual is quite detailed.  It is for my 67 but will give you a guide for removal of the core

Continuing on this subject, the inner heaterbox has to come away from the firewall to get to the core.

65-66, the stud/nut pictured, arrow, #10 on Cliffs illustration cannot be gotten at with the wheelwell in place. All others can with the hood hinge removed. It's a challenge, but can be done. Fan must be removed first step and it's tough. Certainly easier without the fender?

In any case, Hint: centerpunch and drill out that particular head of that heaterbox stud (arrow) from the inside the car. Tack a bolt onto the engine side plenum to reassemble. It's commonly done. Go with a nut inside the car. Nobody will ever know...except the next guy, who will thank you.

Hey Pearl here are a few pics I took of my best parts car fender. You may be in luck as it is also from a Parisienne originally so has all the correct holes for all the trim although I'm not sure you are using that.

If you are interested we should continue this via Private messaging.

By the way quite a story. You were lucky. My brother lost his drivers front on his old 65 Custom sport 409 car at about 80 miles per hour and he said it was still quite controllable although it was a lonely road so no traffic. It was a nice mag wheel so we spent hours trying to find it in the adjoining fields. Finally did on the opposite side of the road from the driver's side. Strange but lucky. Bent that fender up too.

Ken, Cliff, Cdnpont, all of you guys are above and beyond here! Really appreciate that :)

Advice all duly noted. Although I didn't quite find a listing for a heater core in Rock Auto, may be some other options or there may be a refurbisher here in town.

Ken, that fender looks real good - I'll catch you in private there, thanks!

Search under 1966 Chevrolet Impala.  Heater Cores are listed in the "Heat & Air Conditioning" section.
