I dunno, have you seen the prices that Beaumont SD's are selling for these days? And I don't mean asking prices, I mean selling prices. I've seen and heard of some prices that I would have said "never".

I know of an SD big block car that the restoration is about $100K deep. Remember, these big block SD cars are almost impossible to find.

For sure. Where Im from in Regina, if you don't do your own body and paint, or don't know a guy, that would cost you $50k alone on that one for body and paint. New quarters, doors, rockers, likely floors and pans, etc.

Very cool and rare care. Gotta be your dream car though

Wow this guy has some pretty rare stuff for sale and he knows what the parts are worth. The beaumont is worth every cent in my opinion because of its rarity !

Just used the Hagerty appraisal app. If you type in 1966 Beaumont Custom Sport Deluxe L34, it gives values for 4 levels of condition. Concours is 119,000 US, then 81,000 for #3, 60,000 for a 2 car, and 43,000 for a #4. Add 15% for 4 speed. So your 100,000 investment is worth 119,000 US plus 17,850 US, or 136,850US. At 1.39 exchange, that is 190,200 Canadian.

Hagerty appraisal is just that, a value given by an insurance company. The more they value your car, the more money they get from you. Not sure you could get that car to Concours for $100000 cdn. If you can do the work yourself, yes. If you are paying someone, not a chance.

Hagert sent me a notice wanting to upgrade the values on some of my cars. Here are a couple examples.

My 84 CJ7 actual value - $13000. They wanted to upgrade to $22200

My 66 Nova actual vale - $35000-45000. Hagerty $73000

i like Hagerty but they aren't exactly accurate.

I love that car. its one of my favourites. For it to be worth that it would need its complete #s matching powertrain, in my eyes anyway. It says correct 961 block??? And I would hope there are some other items that dont require attention other than the trim which is very valuable. If it needs a complete body, powertrain, suspension, brake, wheel/tire, interior, glass, stainless and chrome resto its gonna get crazy. Then at that point it becomes so valuable that you hate to drive it. Add to that where the economy and prices might be headed??

Its a better candidate than a low option small block car for sure

I hope someone grabs it and returns it to its glory. Its checks a lot of boxes for sure!

A car like this checks a lot of boxes as well. No its not a Beaumont SD. But its a low # Oshawa built 66 Malibu 66 L34 with a 4 speed. The works done. Get in and drive a similar car far less than you can restore the other one. Winters coming$63-65000 gets u a beauty. Its not concours or factory colour etc

This relates to my comment on anyone restoring this would be doing it to keep. And thats great! It deserves a loving resto from a proud owner.

But u wont get that SD even close to this for low to mid sixties.

Horder has some very good points here. Chevy parts are pretty easy to come by for certain years. Pontiac(Beaumont) parts not so, subtle differences between the models. Beaumont parts ...Canada only. I think you are way over your head trying to restore this car properly. Probably minimum 3-4 years to source correct parts and then to put it all together. So 2025 and you have all the parts, even if the economy/prices stayed at par you are looking at $100K (my guess) by then...and what is the car worth? There won't be big line up for it at Barrett J....

I still think he's "dreaming" at $20K, maybe $13-15K realistically. But he hung "THE CARROT" out there. A lot of thought needed to bring this off and not get "buried"

Nice Project for sure if you do most of the work yourself interesting the L34 option standard axle was 3:73 ratio. My 1966 Malibu SS 396 with L34 also has 3:73 ratio 12 bolt axle non posi.

Hmm. Im not sure what the not an SD car comments mean. In 66, the A51 option code means SD badging. There was no SD model that year. Am I missing something?

BUT! The epoxied-over rivets on that cowl tag worry me. To get SD dollars, itd have to be a REAL SD.
Caveat Emptor. Do your due diligence.

The factory did a really messy job covering over the hollow rivets that hold the trim tag in place. They just used a messy glob of dum-dum over the rivets, to the point where you think somebody tried to glue them on hastily. Mine are even sloppier, and they have not been touched since 12-15-66 when the factory applied it. Not a red flag IMHO.

That was in regard to the link I posted. Car was a MUCH better deal and was gone in a day. This one is still up. Hopefully someone grabs it.
