pics of correct 64 valve cover bolts for TburgGM


this is the correct bolt and spacer.  the bolt is a 1/4 inch but has a smaller head size to accept a 3/8 socket. (correct smaller head one shown on the right).  the holddowns are same on all 50's 60s SBC's

Thanks Dave, greatly appreciated.

My 283 1964 Beaumont came with the larger washers and screws (versus a bolts).   Not sure why anyone would do that.  Has anyone seen screws holding the valve covers down, like in the attached picture?

Before about 1962 the valve covers used phillips screws and timing cover were flathead.    But a little wider head than in your pic.    

The larger speader washers started in 1967 i believe.

On A body, before bolts all Ive ever seen is a large head Phillips screws. Just an FYI.

 I corrected my comment,  you are right, the PHILLIPS heads were used on valve cover prior to about 1962.

As far as i know, none of the 64 and newer A-body cars ever had phillips valvecover screws tho,   always the small 3/8 socket bolts.
