What was the difference in price from a 396 to a 427 ? Seems to be a ton more cars had the 396. Was it price or maybe 396 a more proven engine?
Yearly plates cost more above 396 c.i.d, or 6.5 litre. Used to be so, anyway. Also as dad used to say, "the more horses you have the more you have to feed them". Figure 13~15 mpg (396) vs 10~12 mpg (427). On average.
