Wow..15 years ago.. I would have never thought 8200 for an 84

(1) Marketplace - 1984 Pontiac parisienne brougham | Facebook  Seems the older I get the newer to me stuff is getting into the "Classic" era. I raced/crashed and totaled a s$#t load of these cars! Maybe I should have kept some!!!  Still looks like a well kept clean car and getting harder to find in this day and age. I remember when the 60/70's cars were at the same point. They went from junker to collector in a few years. Age/era/condition.........to me, no one under 50 is going to buy this car..but still a huge market for the ones over.

I learned to drive in an '81, so they always have had a special place for me.

It's funny, for the longest time I couldn't think of anything from the late '70s and up as being an old car, even when they were past the age of others that I thought were old cars when I was younger.  It's only been in the past 10-ish years that I've accepted that these are now old cars... it's time that I did as that '81 would now be 42 years old if it were still around.  biggrin

I've seen the value of these jump a little since covid madness, but not to the crazy levels that the older stuff has.  I still see nice examples for sale under $10K, while other stuff has gone upwards of $40K... $50K... $100K???) etc.  That said, I haven't followed the market much lately because of the crazy pricing.

That is a really nice car and in great condition, worth the price if you ask me. But you are right, the market of who'd buy it is pretty narrow.

I've been casually pricing out inexpensive "first cars" for my daughter - I have a couple years to find something. The small, fuel efficient Japanese stuff is sooo overpriced right now. Even the prices on 2000-2010 Ford Rangers, which are simple and would be cheap to fix. I even look at 2000's FWD Buicks like the Lucerne, because of the fierce depreciation / no one wants one ....

If you can find a cheap 2004-5 Toyota Echo hatcback you won't be sorry. Fantastic little cars. Parts are cheap, no timing belt and have good crash ratings. They'll run forever.

Thanks Todd, that one's on the list too. No rush to find something, I have no room at the moment anyway!
