There is a nearly identical car to that around here that I see periodically, but with a 396 2-barrel & hidden headlights.

Not everyone is taken by the twin pontoon bulge fender sponsons with French curve wheel arches. The bulges are absent in the reproduction quarters as an FYI. I always liked the '69 Big Chevies. So many varieties & option combos, and they built a million. That one has the nice 'Custom' turbine wheel covers, hard to find now. You could get the poverty caps on an Impala Custom but not on the Caprice.

Overall I think it looks like a very good one, but the prospect of non-functioning Comfortron A/C is very daunting. It has the simple control with the temperature dial and the sensor in the instrument shroud. If the controls have a fault it can be a nightmare. A really nice powerful R12 system with an A6 compressor. Hopefully it is a simple matter with the a/c, but to work on it today it has to be via a certified tech who signs & tags the system (Kyoto). You can still find R12 refrigerant even though it has been out of production for three decades or so. That is a by-product of tight controls that don't allow for venting, only recapture & recycling. Which is very good for the ozone. They won't allow dumping into a leaking system.

That car has an LS1 427 Hydramatic combo that would have tall 2.56:1 gearing by default. It would have been a smooth silent beast with the faintest rumble out of its original large single exhaust system with resonator. Like a Cadillac in nature.

Same powertrain my 69 Grande Parisienne 4 dr ht had. However, mine had the N10 dual exhaust option which this one could have been ordered with as well.

You're from Grassie I see. I drove through Grassie in 1995 and saw a '68 Caprice coupe, Fathom Blue I think with off-white v-top & factory wires. It may have had hideaways too. Any chance that was yours I saw back then?

Yes the Frost Green '69 ended up in my neck of the woods. I was only taking a stab regarding the '68 I saw so long ago and just wondered if there might be a connection. And yes, it did also have hidden headlights and was a 327 car with 14" wheels. That is what I gleaned as we drove by.
